About me

Hi! My name is Dorys, I grew up in Quito, Ecuador where I attended a wonderful university and majored in Early childhood education. I have worked with children my whole life. I have worked as an educator for children ages 2 to 5. I have also worked as an assistant to a speech therapist where I learned a lot, including some wonderful activities to keep children engaged and entertained. When I arrived in this country I decided to become a nanny, I love helping families and working independently with a family. I also loved being a part of a child's milestones and achievements. I love and enjoy my job and the field I am in.

I have worked as a nanny for 22 years. My first nanny child, in 2001 started with a boy who was 18 months old, I loved working with him and we both explored New York City together. Although he was only here briefly because his family moved back to France I was such a big part of their lives that they even invited me to move back with them.

Through word of mouth and high recommendations, I met my second nanny's family. They had a little boy who was 3 months old, and my responsibilities with him included preparing his meals and creating educational and fun activities I was a hands-on nanny and full charge. The same family had two more kids and I took care of them as soon as they were born. I stayed with that family for 8 years, and we developed a wonderful relationship. All three kids attended my daughter's wedding this year. We keep in touch and go out to eat when possible. In my most recent nanny family, I took care of two boys. They were 20 months and 3 months old when I started. I was with that family for 14 years, and my role and responsibilities shifted throughout the years because they got older and had different needs. I love the children and the parents and I am sure that like my previous families, we will stay in touch and continue to see each other. Although it is hard to leave this current family I am leaving with many great memories and am very excited for my next role.

As you can see when I work with a family I truly am committed, I enjoy helping make things easier for the parents so they can enjoy their children more. When I work with children it isn't just a job for me, I put in the care and consideration as if they were my children.
