About me

I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago with a younger brother, a cat, and a dog. I always loved playing outside and swimming in Lake Michigan. I graduated from Vassar College in 2022 and have been working as a preschool teacher for the past two years. I loved all of my experiences with children and have truly realized my passion for working with kids and nurturing their social and emotional development.

I have worked with children between the ages of two and five at the Society Hill Playschool for two years. I have one full year of classroom experience with a nonverbal child with special needs. My responsibilities included full-time supervision of children, nurturing the development of social and emotional skills, guiding children in utilizing interpersonal conflict resolution skills, attending staff training in child development and trauma-informed care, and communicating with parents, supervisors, and behavioral specialists to offer individualized care to each child. In addition, I created the curriculum for and led the arts program for children ages three to five. I focused on creating an emotionally safe and peer-supportive environment so that children can try out new art forms and express themselves. I have also worked with children between the ages of 11 and 15 at an overnight camp for three summers. In addition to constant supervision of the children, I planned and facilitated programs, helped the girls resolve conflict, and offered regular emotional support. I am also proficient in Spanish.

In my free time, I love to make music. I play the guitar, keyboard, and bongos, and I love to sing. I always use music as an element of my work with children; it often focuses young racing minds to sing a song or drum a rhythm when needing to transition or focus into an activity. I am motivated and endlessly rewarded by the art of giving unconditional love to children and guiding them to be the best versions of themselves. Helping children make the right choices for themselves and stand firm on their own two feet in self-confidence also motivates my work with children. I believe children become what we tell them they are, and I strive to always see a child in the best light.
