About me

Hello! My name is Julia McCormick, and I'm based in the East Village. I grew up in Brooklyn Heights and London, but I'm originally from a small town in Minnesota. I graduated from Oberlin College in 2022 with a degree in Film Studies. Since graduating, I have been babysitting and nannying in New York and working on my films. When it comes to working with children, I love focusing on imaginative play, as it feels aligned with storytelling in the filmmaking process.

I've been babysitting for seven years, with some more recent nannying experiences. I've worked with infants, toddlers, preschool and kindergarten-aged children, and middle school students.

I recently finished working for a family of four in Greenpoint. For a year and a half, I provided nurturing care for two children aged four and seven. I often worked full days caring for the family's youngest. When the children were at school or camp, I did afternoon pick-up every weekday. The kids and I would head to the park to be outside and run around or go home and play restaurant, bake, make potions, or set up a whole painting station. I also ensured the children had nutritious meals and supported their academic growth by assisting with homework. Throughout this experience, I developed a strong bond with the children and contributed to their overall well-being and development.

I have experience as a camp counselor, working in Brooklyn Heights for a summer. I've also spent some time as an education intern at the Guggenheim, helping kids understand and comprehend art pieces and exhibits through various art projects and activities.
