About me

I grew up outside of Chicago, IL in a small town, the third of four children! As a child, I loved music, reading, writing– and people. This led me to pursue a degree from Columbia College Chicago! I had many interests and certainly explored each one, eventually landing on a passion for the Deaf community. I earned my B.A. in Deaf Studies, with a focus on Early Childhood Development and Linguistics. Throughout college and after, I worked as a nanny and have loved implementing my education into my work!

I began babysitting when I was 13 years old for friends of my parents. I quickly found that I loved working with children, and took my first full-time nanny gig at age 15, where I nannied 3 children for a summer! Throughout high school and college, I spent my summers as a camp counselor. Over the years, I was both a group counselor and a head counselor. I gained experience in leading groups of children, guiding and advising peers in the care of children, and eventually running the entire 3rd/4th grade camp program. I was able to work with hundreds of children between the ages of 5 to 15. Also throughout college, I nannied part-time, working for a variety of families in Chicago with busy schedules and lives. Post-graduation, I've continued nannying full-time. I've nannied for a variety of ages, from infancy to fifth grade, for families with up to four children. My duties have included but are not limited to school pick-up and drop-off, managing busy schedules with after-school activities and appointments, teaching baby sign and American Sign Language, navigating nutritional changes in infants from breastmilk/formula to solid foods, helping infants/toddlers reach developmental milestones, light housework, meal prep, planning activities and playtime, and more!

I aim to create a stable, fun, engaging environment that encourages children to be themselves as they learn and grow. Children are undeniably our future, and it all starts in the home! I consider myself lucky to be in this profession, able to aid parents in raising their kids to become everything they were made to be and more.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Pursuing a master's degree in social work or special education, utilizing my degree and experience as a nanny to provide early intervention services to deaf/hard-of-hearing children. I hope to continue nannying as long as I can, as well!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Music– I love bringing my ukulele and singing songs with the kids or teaching them chords! I enjoy getting outdoors, having dance parties, taking them to activities around the city, and doing simple science experiments and crafts. And, of course, teaching ASL!
