About me

I was raised in Slippery Rock, PA– a friendly town of 3,000 people. As a kid, you’d find me perched in trees, unicycling to school, or making funny movies with my brother. I never lost my love for a good story, and earned my Bachelor of Science in Film at Kent State, with minors in Writing and Italian Studies. I’ve traveled to 10 countries and backpacked across 20 states, finding great joy in meeting people from all walks of life. Since graduating, I’ve explored videography in dance and music. My work with children has been artistically inspiring; their imaginative spark is contagious, and my passion for the arts allows me to engage with their inventions in a joyful way.
As an older sibling, taking care of younger children came naturally to me. In high school, I babysat on my block and also worked as a youth soccer coach– developing skills in organizing group activities and instilling a sense of teamwork among the players. I build upon these skills and love to be active with the children I care for. I work part-time for two families, children ages 7-11. My duties include school pick-up, homework help, preparing snacks/meals, taking them to extracurricular activities, and nighttime routines. I am attuned to the needs of the families and integrate household chores when needed. I strive to meet children where they are by engaging in the games they suggest and giving them agency to direct the play. I am also sensitive to the arc of play when children need “downtime” and space. One of my strengths as a sitter is that I am sensitive to the unique needs of the children and appreciate children’s diverse personalities.
A child’s inclination towards improvisation, easy adaptation, and spontaneous creation is magical. Just as much as the children receive something from me when I spend time with them, I strive to make sure they know that I receive just as much joy and value from them as well. There is little else that feels as good as genuine laughter amongst us all. I am always impressed by their brilliant intelligence and individualism, and seeing them explore themselves and the world is a beautiful reminder of what happiness can be found in simple delights.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I've played piano since I was 5 and love to incorporate music into our time together! I am familiar with music teaching strategies geared toward younger students. As a former soccer player and all-around athlete, I love to be active outdoors and play sports with the children I care for. I was very successful academically in high school and university, and am confident in any homework help they may need. Recently, my background in French has been useful for one of the boys if he is struggling with a section in his French homework. I bring my artistic and storytelling skills to my visits, and often we engage in imaginative play, arts and crafts, and acting out stories. I also have insight into sibling dynamics and can draw from my own experience growing up with a younger brother to help diffuse sibling conflict.
