About me
I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina. As a child, I was always reading and creating; as a teen, I spent my time volunteering with literacy nonprofits. I love that being a nanny allows me to be creative and share my love of reading with children. I graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. in University Studies with a thematic core title of Pedagogy Studies in Language Arts before beginning my career as a full-time nanny. I am thankful that my experience as an intern at the Child Development Center on campus set me on this path. Learning skills from veteran teachers fundamentally changed the way I engage with toddlers and preschoolers.
I have been working with children for over five years; including in a youth center, as a full-time nanny, a babysitter, and in middle school and preschool classrooms as an intern. I began my current position as a full-time nanny when the baby was 5 months old and she is now a cruising 12-month-old. My responsibilities include planning developmentally appropriate activities, driving, household errands, laundry, light housekeeping, and cooking meals according to baby-led weaning principles. In my previous nanny position, I worked seasonally with the family’s oldest son from 18 months to 3 years old, and their youngest son from 5 months to 17 months old. In this position, I enjoyed planning activities such as sensory play and visits to children’s museums. I have practiced baby sign language with my charges and professional development is a priority of mine. I am certified in First Aid/CPR/AED and ITS-SIDS. I have also completed the Water Safety for Parents and Caregivers course offered by the Red Cross and have experience being in the water with children.
I love the openness and zest for life that young children bring to every experience. When I learned about the Reggio Emilia approach to Early Childhood Education, I loved that it embraced this natural curiosity by provoking a child’s “100 languages” to view their world. Witnessing this process is what keeps me excited about working with families in their homes every day. I am excited to get to know your family!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
Reading and children's literacy have always been my main passion. Creating an environment that is print-rich and language-rich for the children I care for is very important to me. I love to make books fun for younger children with movement, sounds, singing, and facial expressions. I have a wide knowledge base in children's literature and I enjoy helping older children identify what books interest them and planning activities that connect to the books we are enjoying. My charges and I stay busy every day, attending story time at the library, baby gymnastics classes, swimming lessons, visiting museums and parks, setting up sensory bins, building forts, baking, and playing in the splash pad. I love to have a variety of activities planned throughout the week that support motor, cognitive, and social development. My favorite moments are when we are laughing, running around, and getting messy!
