About me

Hi! My name is Amaya. I'm from Durham, North Carolina. I have one older sister. I loved to play with rocks, run around in the grass, draw, and play with my toys as a child. I graduated from The City College of New York where I received a psychology degree. My degree had a focus on early childhood development. I've been a childcare worker since I graduated and audit quite often. This ties into my degree because ultimately whatever I did I wanted it to focus on helping children and their families.

I've worked with children for about 9 years and my ages ranged from 0 months to 12 years old. I've been an infant teacher for a child who started at 4 months until 1  year old. I watched her go through each infant development stage and helped her along the way. I carried out diaper changes, feedings with puree and finger food, implemented infant-friendly lesson plans, and nap time routines, offered emotional support for all of her needs, took walks outside, and documented her day to her parents during and at the end of the day. Another child I babysat started with me from 4 months to 1 year old well. Throughout the afternoon we'd play with her toys, dance, do her hair, prep her dinner, supervise her feeding times, start her nighttime routine, and soothe him to sleep.
. I've practiced sign language, am Pediatric CPR /AED certified, and have SIDS training. experience with children on the Autism spectrum, entry-level Spanish, am fully vaccinated, and am well versed in meal prepping and cooking.

I was a Babysitter and infant teacher for a family with their daughter starting around 4 months. I was responsible for the child's bottle feedings, routine diaper changes, nap time routines, infant-friendly lesson plans, emotional support, and documenting development. Daily I would take my children on outside walks and send pictures to parents. I kept a close relationship with my parents and updated them every day about the Bank's well-being. Her parents also have me as a very frequent Babysitter. As her babysitter, I would prepare her for her bedtime routine such as feeding, diaper changing, reading a book, and patting/ soothing her to sleep. I would closely keep watch of her on the baby the family has set up.

I provided babysitting for a family's daughter at 8 years old. I met her at the Daycare I worked at. Her mother trusted me with watching her on many occasions over the years. I would watch her favorite shows and pretend to play with her. I participated in helping with HW, Dinner time, and her bedtime routine. I also brought her to her bus stop and assisted her with a morning routine such as brushing her teeth and getting ready for school.
As an infant teacher, I managed a class of 8 infants ages 2 months -1 year. There I made strong long-lasting relationships with parents and their children. I was responsible for the well-being of my class during the day. I would keep them safe, happy, and updated with their parents at the end of each day. I have experience in diaper changing, implementing infant-safe lesson plans, feeding finger food and purée, Montessori play, and emotional support for infants. I also would share photos daily through the documentation app Tadpoles. I also worked with toddlers ages 1-4. I was able to assist them with circle time, reading, playtime, Pull-up and potty time, light meal prep, lesson plans, and playing outside in the parks.
I was a babysitter for the winter family's son, aged 5 months -15 months. I met this child when he was 5 months old in my infant class. There I supported him throughout his infant stages and he thrived. I conducted diaper changes, bottle feedings, light meal prep, lesson plans, and outside time. I helped him transition from purée to finger food during his time in the infant room. His mom also had me babysit from time to time for her son. During the afternoon I would supervise his dinner and playtime, change his diaper before bed, soothe him, pat him to sleep, and watch him until his mother was home. I also would help Damien practice his walking with a walker.
I have babysat their fun daughter who is 13 months, and started at 8 months. During the afternoon I would supervise Maya while she ate her dinner, read her books, and play. When it is time for bed I would carry out her nighttime routine such as changing her diaper, putting on necessary ointments, and soothing her to sleep. I have brought her home from school with the permission of her parents. I would pack up her bag, prepare her stroller, and take her home where we would start the afternoon routine.
I babysit a family's great-daughter (4 months -1 year regularly. I met her at 4 months in my infant classroom. I watched Julieta grow and flourish during her time in the infant room until she was one. There I conducted diaper changing, purée and finger food feedings, and Bottle feedings.
I assisted in a successful sleeping schedule for Julieta for her transition to her 1's classroom. Her parents have me regularly as their babysitter when needed. During the afternoons I would play with her toys, practice walking with her, dinner time feeding, get her down for bedtime, and get her to sleep.

I was a childcare worker in the Kids Club daycare at 24 Hours Fitness. The ages ranged from as early as 6 months to 12 years old. I would watch a class of up to 6-12 children while their parents worked out. There I would encourage health and physical activities for different age groups. I would check children in and out and document their attendance in the system. When parents were done working out I would speak to them about what their child did in their time. Art such as coloring, painting, and play-do. I would often put on fun children's movies, take part in pretend play, and read books with them. I also worked with a few children who had forms of autism. I nurtured and assured them they felt comfortable playing and expressing themselves during their play times. The Kids loved the Just Dance Game.

I will call myself a roller coaster enthusiast as I love roller coasters and amusement parks. I love to go to the beach, nature walks, work out, arts and crafts, video games, anime, and cosplay. I connect these to the children because I love to have fun. I can do arts and crafts with them and implement my love of nature with them. I love to sing to kids and dance. I love to play with their toys and talk to them. I feel the more you can connect with a child, they will feel comfortable to be themselves and express themselves fully. My approach is to always pay attention to a child's emotions and cater to their needs whether it be nonverbal or verbal. I am motivated by my big heart and my drive to help as many children and their families as I can.
