About me
Hi, I'm Molly!
I grew up in Saratoga Springs NY with two sisters. I played drums in the school band and guitar since I was about 6 years old. After I graduated high school I wasn't sure what I wanted to do and therefore worked many different jobs. I experimented with being a home health aide for a short while and decided I preferred to work with children. Throughout working different jobs I have always done babysitting on the side and it wasn't until my early 20s when I got my first full-time nanny position and realized that this is what I wanted to do!
I have held many different positions when it comes to child care. Assistant toddler teacher, volunteer snowboard instructor at the Double H Ranch, date night babysitter, and full-time nanny. My first experience with childcare would definitely be with my younger sister. My sister has a disability and I have been like a second mom helping her her whole life. Whether it was making snacks, giving her injections or simply assisting her mobility, I was there. I feel this gave me a kick start in the business of child care and being comfortable with responsibilities. My first professional nanny gig was with twin boys starting from the age of around 9 months until they were around 2.5 years old. I assisted the boys in everything from crawling to walking, diapers to underwear, and everything in between. Making Meals, playtime, teaching appropriate social skills and behavior, as well as helping the parents out with house cleaning and laundry are some of the things I spent my time with them. I was with them every day Monday through Friday. I found this work very rewarding and exciting! Years later during COVID, the twin's mom asked me if I was available to help the boys out with their virtual classes for a semester and I gladly accepted. I still keep in touch with the family to this day!
I worked with 2 different families with children about two weeks apart in age. Both started at roughly 6 months old until both girls were 2.5 years old and started daycare to introduce them to a school-type setting and more social interaction. My days were spent mornings with one family and afternoons with the other. Some of my responsibilities were tidying around the apartment, baby laundry, assisting in feedings and meal prep, providing a safe and happy place environment, and introducing the children to knew things, art, music, play dates, ect. I stay in contact with both families and often nanny part-time for one of the families.
I have gotten jobs by referral from a couple of the families I have worked for whether it be a family coming for just a few days or an ongoing date night situation. I have watched multiple children, up to 3 school-aged kids, to working with infants as old as 5 weeks. It is hard for me to choose which age range I like working with the best because I find each age range to be different and fun in its own way!
I became EMT certified in my late 20's and although I did not choose to follow through with that as a career, I have found it has been a fantastic background while working with kids. I find it also gives the parents an extra sense of security as well while I'm out and about with their children.
I am a very laid-back, easygoing person with a great sense of humor. I love talking and learning about people and different things and find that that is one of the things that makes childcare a great fit for me! I'm always thinking of fun new experiences I can try or bring or introduce the children I'm with to. I feel it is extremely important when helping to raise the next generation of kids to make sure they feel loved, heard, and accepted. It is for this reason that I am very in tune with the feelings of the children and encourage them to express their emotions in an appropriate way. As much as I like to get on my hands and knees or I the grass with kids, I also find it is equally as important for them to have supervised independent play. I like to show by example in terms of healthy lifestyle choices both food-related and exercise-related. I also am very transparent and honest with the children (within reason). Having open communication with the parents is one of the most important aspects for me in working with a family. I need to know that we can all be on the same page as a unit to ensure the child has consistency and more or less knows what everyone is expecting of them. I find this greatly reduces the stress in all parties the children, the nanny, and the guardians.
