About me

I grew up in an outdoorsy family in Upstate New York. Although I only have one sister, I grew up with 20 cousins. I enjoyed spending time outside, swimming, sports, art, and baking as a child. I studied science and art at SUNY Oswego. Since graduation, I have traveled around the world where my career in childcare has taken off.

I have worked with children for 16 years. I started nannying a cousin during summers when I was 14 years old. Since then, I worked at a private kindergarten as the after-school coordinator and assistant teacher. From the US, I moved to Hong Kong where I worked as an English teacher for two years with children aged two through twelve, preparing lesson plans, and teaching phonics and creative writing. I transitioned to working as a nanny/governess with three boys (4, 7, 9) in their fully staffed household. Soon after, a fourth boy was born. I organized activities, ensured all uniforms were ready to go for school, assisted with homework, and meal planning, and cared for the newest child. The boys had severe allergies and therefore always carried emergency medication. I trained in anaphylaxis to be prepared for an emergency. We also traveled internationally to the US to visit extended family. I completed my time with this family once I moved to New Zealand. Here, I nannied for a girl when she was 10 months old. We enjoyed activities such as baby sensory and swimming classes. I made her meals, did laundry, taught her manners, and organized playdates. I regularly spent time with her extended family and grandparents, accompanied them on one domestic holiday, and frequently babysat.

A big part of my life is trying new things. It’s exciting to discover something new that I enjoy. This coincides with my approach to childcare. I encourage children to try new things and to pursue their passions while supporting them when they feel uncertain. If I can make this big part of life fun and exciting and part of their every day, I believe they will have no fears in trying new things as an adult and they can have the confidence to reach their goals. I believe these formative years and the lessons learned now will shape them into the wonderful humans they can be.
