About me

I am a born and raised New Yorker. I grew up in the east village, where I went to the same public elementary school as my mother and my grandfather as well. I am the oldest of three, and my interests include competitive swimming, singing and musicals, technology, and foreign language. My High School, Brooklyn Tech, had many resources for all of my interests. I studied computer science and German in college, and since then I have spent many years working as a nanny, as well as a Lifeguard, and swim instructor, as well as certification and volunteer work as an EMT.
I began my life as a childcare provider very early on, when my mother was battling cancer starting when I was eight years old. I had many parental responsibilities for my two younger brothers at that time, which continued when my mother passed away when I was 11 years old. Throughout high school and college, I worked as a babysitter or a nanny, as well as many summers working as a camp counselor, and more than one job as a swim teacher or coach. After college, I worked with a family where I regularly picked their two kids up from school, a three-year-old and a seven-year-old, took them to after-school, did homework with them, and made them dinner. I worked with that family for two years until their childcare needs changed and they referred me to another family. I spent a few years lifeguarding and teaching swim lessons in Minneapolis, where I specialized in young toddler swimming and Mommy and Me lessons. Now I am back in New York and I have been working as a preschool teacher, specializing in ages 1-3, as well as a part-time nanny.
In nearly 15 years of working with children at school, home, or the swimming pool, I have learned that the most important skill is to show up every day with patience and love in excess, ready to give the same reminders and read the same book for the millionth time. Being a child is the most magical time in any person's life, and every kiddo deserves to have people in their life who will do anything to help them succeed or goof around and create memories that last a lifetime.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Still in New York, I would love to have a child of my own.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to share my love of language, swimming, and water safety. I have also used programs that use games to help teach young children about computer programming.
