About me
I grew up in Brooklyn, NY. I have 5 siblings; 3 sisters & 2 brothers. I enjoyed reading, making art projects, music, and food as a kid. I went to KIPP AMP MS, and I then graduated from KIPP NYC College Prep HS. I then attended SUNY Brockport for a year and am transferring to City College. I am pursuing a psychology major as I wish to be a mental health therapist. I wish to be a therapist to adults and adolescents which is helped greatly by my experience in child care. Babysitting allows me to get an inside look at how children operate and think. This brings me great joy as I am gaining experience in and outside of the classroom. I’ve worked with children since my freshman year of high school. I started out helping my stepmom’s friend who owned a daycare. I worked there a couple of times after school weekly. The kids were 4-5 years of age. I attended to their needs, kept them occupied with games and activities, and helped with snack time. I then didn’t have much experience until my senior year of high school, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then, I was suggested to apply to a summer camp program that a fellow teacher of mine was a director at. There I became a day camp counselor where I did various things such as leading and guiding 3-4-year-olds with activities and learning programs, ensuring their safety and well-being, and helping with their basic necessities. After graduating from high school, I then started babysitting during my freshman year of college. I would nanny primarily after school to the evening for Maribel: a single mother of 5. During this position, I transitioned my kids from school to home. I ensured special meals were prepared for their snack and dinner. I assisted with homework help, played games, and engaged in fun, educational activities with my children. I ensured the kids were bathed and ready for bed when Maribel arrived home from work. This provides great comfort and relief for parents who work late at night. This experience was essential to my childcare experience. I am a people person who loves engaging with others. This is great for working with children as it provides a smooth ease into knowing and helping a child grow.
