About me
I was born and raised in Jamaica (I'm Jamaican and Greek!), and I’m the second out of 6 children. I started caring for my younger siblings (along with cousins, and neighbors' kids) at the tender age of 11, and continued until I was 17 years old by cooking, doing weekly laundry, cleaning the house, and going to the market weekly. I loved my childhood in Jamaica, which included watching sports like cricket, soccer and netball, staying active in track and field, and swimming in the sea every day. After receiving a track and field scholarship for a college in the USA, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems. After moving to New York, I babysat for my aunts' foster children (and for this I was background checked, fingerprinted, and vaccinated accordingly). I loved this experience so much that I redirected my path to childcare, and received my certification as a Newborn Care Specialist and baby masseuse.
I have over 17 years of experience as a nanny, working in HNW private homes, and working with children from newborns up to teenagers. I really enjoy long-term experiences with families, and am looking for my next great fit for years to come. My extensive childcare career has included positions that were live-in, live-out, 7-14 day rotational shifts, day time and nighttime shifts. I’m CPR and First Aid certified. I’m a great swimmer, I can drive, and am happy to travel with a family, and in the past, I've traveled extensively with families both domestically and internationally. I've packed and unpacked luggage after each trip. Other responsibilities in my previous positions included cooking delicious meals, dropping off and picking up children after school, taking them to doctor appointments, taking kids on play dates and school activities, facilitating potty training, helping with daily homework, and any other childcare-related tasks.
I’m a positive, compassionate, and understanding nanny, and I pride myself on being reliable and flexible for the families I work with. Having strong, open communication is also very important to me in my work. I work well under pressure, and have great common sense and intuition. Above all, my love for children, and genuine care for their safety and well-being makes me a great nanny, along with my patience and fun personality. I'm looking forward to finding my next long-term fit!
