About me

Hola! My name is Coraima. I was born and raised in New York City, but I spent most of my summers in the Dominican Republic. I'm an older sister and the oldest cousin, and I've taken on the protector role since I can remember. Recently, I graduated from John Jay College of Criminal Justice with a bachelor’s in criminal justice, and I'm currently applying for my master’s program. I've been working as a Case Manager and occasionally babysitting.

Growing up, being the oldest, I always took care of my cousins during summer breaks, which taught me responsibility at a young age. In high school, I worked at Harlem Children Zone as a classroom assistant, sparking my interest in teaching due to the profound impact teachers can have on their students’ lives. Throughout college, I sought jobs related to education, drawn from my experiences as a babysitter and classroom assistant. This path allowed me to contribute to the growth and development of children, which I found incredibly rewarding.

I started babysitting independently during my sophomore year of college, and over the years, I've learned that babysitting goes beyond mere supervision. It involves being a caregiver, mentor, and friend. Safety is always my top priority, and I'm trained in CPR and first aid. I also believe in creating enriching experiences for children, including teaching them Spanish, as I believe learning a new language enhances communication and expression.

Working as a Skills Trainer, I provided support to foster children, helping them adapt to new environments and develop essential skills for success. My love for children has only grown stronger over the years, and I'm deeply committed to creating nurturing and supportive environments where they can thrive. I believe in tailoring experiences to suit the interests and developmental stages of each child, emphasizing positive reinforcement and encouragement.

Open and honest communication with both children and their families is essential to me. By maintaining transparent communication channels, I can build trust and collaborate effectively to support the well-being of the child.

In conclusion, I'm passionate about babysitting because it allows me to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children while bringing joy and fulfillment to my own life. I look forward to building lasting connections with families in need of loving and reliable childcare.
