About me
I was born in Annapolis, Maryland but spent most of my school years in Akron, Ohio. I began attending art school in the sixth grade and never left! Throughout my education I studied painting and drawing, music, and theater. I finished college with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking from the Ohio State University.
As a first child, I took the responsibility of looking out for my two younger siblings very seriously. I was often responsible for entertaining my siblings and loved to teach them games, read books aloud, and put on plays and musical shows in our basement. This experience translated well into my first job as a date night sitter for 2 girls aged 2 and 5. Every Friday night was filled with the most fun pretend play--fashion shows, turning the kitchen into a restaurant, playing beauty salon, etc. I continued to babysit for many families throughout high school and spent each summer working as a full-time nanny.
During college, I worked as a primary school art teacher in their childcare center and spent a summer as an Au Pair in Spain. I enjoyed my Au Pair experience so much that I moved to Madrid, Spain following college to work as an ESL teacher. Unfortunately, Covid cut my experience short and I had to return to the US during the lockdowns. As work opportunities were slim, I spent about a year camping in remote areas across the US and visiting as many national parks as I could. As the lockdowns lifted, I moved to Santa Monica and translated my childcare experience into a job as a House Manager for a family of five.
If there is one thing you should know about me--I look at every situation as an opportunity to learn and grow. I am not afraid to admit when I am wrong, learn from my mistakes, and emerge a better person and caretaker. This is one of my favorite parts about childcare--teaching kids of all ages the skills needed to help them rise above adversity and become a light in the world.
