About me

My name is Rachel and I grew up in Ridgewood, NJ. During my teen years, I worked as a babysitter. After HS, I attended Rutgers where I earned a BA in Psychology. Following graduation, I spent a year as a teacher’s assistant in a Montessori school. When I moved to Bayonne, I worked as a paralegal while attending school to become a teacher. When I left this job, I pursued my teaching career. I was a teacher for over 20 years when I decided it was time to switch gears. I wanted to continue working with children on an individual level, hence I became a nanny/babysitter. The focus in my career has centered around children from the time I was a teen to today and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I have worked with children throughout most of my life. I have been a babysitter, teacher’s assistant, lead teacher, and now a nanny/babysitter, as well as a mom of an amazing young adult. When I was a teacher, I first taught children between the ages of 7 to 11. After that, I was a lead Pre-K 4 teacher for 14 years. I nurtured and educated children with many different interests, personalities, and capabilities. After my time in the classroom, I decided to take my experience and become a nanny/babysitter. I wanted to continue working with children but this time on an individual level. I have worked with infants to 6 years of age. First and foremost, I strive to foster a positive relationship with my family, both with the parents and the children. Along with my children, I love to imaginatively play, read, sing, and have a good time. In addition, I pick up some of the children from school and also take some to special events when possible. Furthermore, I am quite comfortable working within all aspects of a child’s routine; mealtime, nap/bedtime, bath time, and wherever else needs to be done.
I believe as a mom, seasoned caregiver, and educator, I am well-suited to taking care of young children. It has always been what I have been drawn to throughout my life. Knowing that I have had an influence on children’s lives brings me the utmost joy and satisfaction. Being even a small part in the development of who the children ultimately become means the world to me.
