About me

I grew up in Fargo, ND with a sister two years younger than me and there were two things that I was very passionate about from a young age - acting and babysitting. I remember devouring Babysitters' Club books backstage at our community theatre - a microcosm of what would end up being my life I went to the University of Minnesota for a BFA in Acting and after school, I started babysitting in NYC to supplement my income while auditioning. I soon found that I took great joy in being able to help young families' lives run smoothly and in forming meaningful relationships with the kids in my care.

My first long-term position in NYC was for 6 years doing after-school and date night babysitting for a family on the Upper West Side starting when the children were 4 and 6 years old. I would take them to their activities, organize their playdates, prepare dinner, help with homework, bathtime, etc. My most recent full-time position was for an infant girl, starting at age 5 months until she was a year old and starting daycare. Responsibilities included keeping her schedule, tracking and helping her reach developmental milestones, facilitating sleep training, and indoor and outdoor play, making simple meals once she moved to solids, leaving the space spotless at the end of the day and of course giving her lots of love and affection. I’ve worked with multiple families over the years and with kids up to their early teens. Ultimately I have found that working in full-time temporary positions creates the best balance of being able to pursue my creative work while still offering my full commitment to the families that employ me.

I connect with kids easily because I respect each child’s individuality and autonomy. I am a funny, goofy, and playful caregiver naturally but I strongly believe in meeting children where they are at and attuning easily to them. I believe kids need to have boundaries in order to feel safe and I do a good job of maintaining health and safety boundaries while allowing children to feel free to explore and feel safe expressing themselves and finding their own limits.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love doing anything that a kid is excited about because it's infectious. But I particularly love doing arts and crafts, making movies with older kids, playing pretend, going to the park, working with them on their sports, reading to them, and laughing with them. I love finding out what a kid is excited about and making it part of our routine.
