About me
I grew up in Buffalo, New York, and I am the oldest of three girls. As a child, I enjoyed anything that allowed me to tap into my imagination and creativity, such as drawing, coloring, make-believe games, and puzzles/legos. As I got older, I often found myself orchestrating imaginative adventures for my siblings and me, fostering a deep appreciation for storytelling. Throughout my formative years, I have been an avid reader and enjoy sharing my love for reading with the children I care for.
I will be graduating from Southern New Hampshire University in August 2024 with a degree in Nonprofit Management. This aspiration was ignited during my service year with AmeriCorps, where I had the privilege of providing math and English tutoring to students at a K-8 charter school. Witnessing the transformative power of education firsthand, I was inspired to pursue a career in nonprofit work with a specific focus on supporting organizations dedicated to every child's access to an equitable education. My experience with AmeriCorps instilled in me a deep sense of purpose, fueling my commitment to effecting positive change in the lives of children through education.
In parallel with my academic pursuits, I have dedicated the past four years to full-time nannying, an endeavor that has been both rewarding and enriching. Beginning with after-school babysitting six years ago, my journey in childcare has been characterized by a steadfast dedication to nurturing and supporting children's development. Transitioning from after-school care to AmeriCorps and eventually full-time nannying, I have had the privilege of caring for children from diverse backgrounds and age groups, each experience contributing to my growth as a caregiver and educator.
In my role as a nanny, I have embraced the responsibilities of structuring engaging activities, managing daily routines, and fostering meaningful connections with both children and parents. Whether facilitating educational games and creative projects or providing emotional support and guidance, I have strived to create a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can thrive and flourish. From coordinating playdates and outings to assisting with homework and bedtime routines, my approach to childcare has always been rooted in empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting children's holistic development.
Currently, as an associate teacher at an early childhood education center, I have the privilege of working with toddlers aged one, further expanding my repertoire of skills and experiences in the field of early childhood education. Through my work, I am committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where each child is valued and supported in their unique journey of growth and discovery.
Outside of my professional endeavors, I am an avid traveler, always eager to explore new cultures and experiences. Most recently, I traveled for a month last summer throughout the UK, Italy, and Spain, which not only broadened my horizons but also deepened my appreciation for diversity and cultural exchange. I believe that my love for travel has equipped me with a heightened sense of empathy, adaptability, and cultural competence, qualities that are invaluable in my work as a childcare provider.
In my interactions with families, I prioritize open communication, mutual respect, and collaboration. Recognizing that each family has its own values, preferences, and dynamics, I strive to establish trusting and supportive relationships built on transparency and shared goals. Whether discussing parenting philosophies, daily routines, or developmental milestones, I believe that effective communication lays the foundation for successful caregiving partnerships.
Ultimately, my goal as a childcare provider is to create a nurturing and empowering environment where children feel valued, respected, and encouraged to explore their passions and interests. By recognizing and celebrating each child's unique strengths, interests, and perspectives, I aim to foster a sense of confidence, curiosity, and self-expression. Through compassionate and individualized care, I am committed to making a positive and lasting impact on the lives of the children and families I have the privilege of serving.
