About me
I am a career educator who has retired from classroom teaching to work exclusively with children in the home as a nanny. I use my years of teaching experience to meet each child where they are developmentally. I love to utilize educational play to teach and also have a great time. I am a creative spirit, enjoying arts and crafts, music, and drama. I love to laugh and find that humor is often the best way to approach emotionally charged situations with little ones. I am firm but kind and only become adamant if safety is an issue. Otherwise, I tend to be very flexible and allow situations to unfold naturally. Teachable moments present themselves frequently and I take advantage of those. I love to read with children and also to explore the great outdoors.
I hold a degree in elementary education and also special education. I have taught Kindergarten through sixth grade. My area of expertise is learning disabilities. I worked for many years as a reading teacher for children struggling with various forms of Dyslexia, verbal, and nonverbal learning disabilities. I have had several live-in and many live-out nanny positions over the course of my career. I have been a private tutor, and a school administrator, and have raised my own son, who is now twenty-five years old.
