About me

I was born in Manhattan and grew up in Westport, CT. I have an older sister and younger brother, both of whom I am extremely close with. My best memories of my childhood are running around with them in the woods behind our house. We grew up with an army of baby cousins, which is where my love of working with children began. In high school I babysat for neighborhood kids, worked as a camp counselor, and took child development classes in school. I entered the University of Vermont in 2016 as an education major but ended up graduating with a degree in Global Studies and a minor in History in 2020.
Since high school I have worked with kids in a wide range of roles. My most recent job was as an after school teacher at a public school in Brooklyn. I was the group lead for the 3rd grade classroom, which meant I was in charge of a room of 20 3rd graders from 2-6:30pm every day. I played games with them outside, helped with homework, instructed arts and crafts, and occasionally resolved conflict between friends. Before this job I worked in NYC as a nanny for almost 2 years, first for a 3 year old boy in Midtown and next for two boys (8 and 10) in Williamsburg. With the three year old we spent our days coloring, practicing letters and numbers, and playing in the park. With the older boys I helped out with homework, brought them to activities, built legos, and did lots of science experiments. At both jobs I was responsible for washing dishes, doing laundry, preparing meals, and generally keeping the house out of chaos. Before coming to New York I worked as an after school teacher and camp counselor in Vermont, including one summer as a one-on-one aide for a child with autism spectrum disorder. I am up to date in certifications in CPR and first aid.
I am a fun loving and creative person, which I think is why I enjoy working with kids so much. I love seeing things through their eyes as they begin to explore the world, and encouraging curiosity about what they see and experience. In all my relationships with children I try to start from a place of empathy and understanding so I am able to meet them where they are and help them be the best versions of themselves.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Working as a teacher! I've loved exploring different avenues for working with children since graduating college, but ultimately my goal is to get a Masters of Education and work as an elementary school teacher.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Anything that can flex their creative muscles. I love to draw, paint, build, or do anything crafty, and I have so much fun encouraging kids to explore their own interests and creative pursuits. I also love to spark curiosity about the world and an appreciation for nature. Even in the heart of a city like New York it's possible to show kids how to connect with the natural world.
