About me

To date, I have accumulated 8 years of experience in professional education settings. I am trained in play-based learning methodologies, and my early education style is inspired by practices such as Waldorf and Montessori. I have cared for children aged 6 months up through middle school. I have 3 years of cumulative experience with babies 6-18 months. I have spent 8 years in a classroom setting as an ESL and Preschool teacher, in addition to managing after-school programing for various organizations and institutions, gaining valuable experience in every stage of early childhood development. I have spent the last few years employed as a Nanny by private families with multiple children, in addition to an extensive history of intermittent private care as a Nanny for the families of my PreK students. I am experienced in creating dynamic lesson plans based on state guidelines in the fine arts, STEM, and tutoring.

I respect children as developing individuals, and as such, I use positive reinforcement and healthy boundary maintenance to teach kids personal responsibility for their actions, while validating their emotions. I am experienced with a variety of special needs including developmental disabilities, ASD, and ADHD. Thanks to my training within the LGBTQIA+ community as a youth support group facilitator, I am comfortable providing a gender-neutral and/or affirming environment for families who desire this support.

I am very active and recognize the importance of cultivating a passion for movement in youth. My favored practice of the last few years has been yoga and not just for exercise, it also helps me to better utilize regular mindfulness practice in my childcare. I am a proficient swimmer and have supervised groups of children in the pool, focusing on skills for emergent swimmers. I value the importance of balanced nutrition in my own life, and have created meal plans, shopped, prepped, cooked, and served meals according to various dietary philosophies, restrictions, and allergies.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Seamlessly integrated and growing with my family of choice, while pursuing my artistic endeavors without the pressure of finances on my creativity. I would like to be showing in galleries or expanding my creative education through the many NYC resources and invested in the creative community. I will be moving with my partner and we hope to be married at that time. We have decided that we will not be having children of our own, so I am looking forward to dedicating my talents and affection for children to my professional charges. I love animals and I hope to have a dog or cat of my own in that time.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I am a professionally trained artist, so I am really passionate about creative education. I love to teach children to get messy (and clean it up) in various different artistic mediums, by playing in the dirt and nature outside, and through creative science experiments. I also love playing pretend through games like DnD and have used this medium to explore creative storytelling, artistic character creation, and world-building, as well as basic math skills. I am also a spectacular Halloween costume designer.
