About me

I was born in Queens, NY but had the opportunity to grow up in Long Island, New Jersey, Florida and California. My free spirited mom who was a single mother at the time, loved to explore new places and adventure. I grew up not only living in different places but also traveling since I was 1 years old. This created in me a free spirited nature as well as a desire to be a lifelong learner. I remember my second grade teacher Mrs. Hyman who was my favorite teacher. She made such an impact in my life that it made me want to become a teacher. I graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University with an elementary education degree, specializing in Pre-K primary.

As I got older, I would volunteer on Sunday's during my church service to help take care of the babies and children My first official baby-sitting job was in college. I started out with a part time weekend position for a family who had 5 children and it ended up turning into a full time position. From then on I have worked with many diverse families and children from 5months all the way to 11 years old. I have over 8 years experience with childcare and working with families. The youngest boy I nannied for was 5 months old. I started when he was 5 months and ended when he was 4 years old. I would change his diapers, warm breast milk bottles, created a nap/sleeping and eating routine for him, meal prep, would document everything that I would feed him everyday, would research developmental milestones and document them, would create developmental appropriate activities, would be very hands on and create fun art projects, would take him to his classes that his mom signed him up for, would also take him to museums, ballets, concerts, Central Park and walks around the city. I was also an occasional date night sitter for the family. I speak fluent Spanish and would talk to the 5month old in both Spanish and English.

Something that I hold onto as I get older is the childlike wonder that kids have. I love the way that children view the world and how they experience so much of it all at once. I love being around children and love to help them view the goodness and beauty that this world has to offer.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

own a home, become a mother with children of my own, happily married with my husband, and being fully satisfied in the life I have created.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love teaching children manners, and how to be kind to others. I love to let children be children and have fun by imaginative play and love creating freedom with healthy structured boundaries. I remember one day while I was working for a family of 5 in college. We took a loaf of bread and went to feed the ducks. One of the boys threw bread at me and I looked back at him and threw a piece of bread right back at him. He burst out laughing and his siblings joined. It became the best "food" fight ever! I love helping children understand that its okay to make mistakes, that grown ups make mistakes too but we choose to learn from them and move forward. I love to help children feel encouraged, loved, and supported.
