About me
I grew up moving from Ohio to rural Virginia, and finally Southern Florida. Raised as the only child of a single mother, I spent my days outdoors engaged in elaborate imaginative play. Growing up watching my mother navigate college, I developed a love of reading early on that has carried on into my adulthood. My love of history was sparked while living in historic Jamestown, VA, where I was able to witness archaeologists uncovering the original site of the Jamestown colony on an elementary school trip. When we weren’t spending the weekends at the beach, hiking, or bicycling, my mother's love for art took us on weekend journeys to museum exhibits, local art fairs, and treasure hunting in antique shops and yard sales.
Having moved on from two prior careers in visual merchandising and hospitality, I began my work in childcare with a child and her family in 2020, during her partially remote kindergarten. Between 2021 and 2023, I provided nanny-share services for her and her schoolmate, Venice, for 2-3 days each week, assuming a full-time caregiving role for Venice individually throughout the remainder of the week. My expertise in nanny-sharing extends to managing up to 4 children, and I've also worked with other neighborhood families as a playdate and date-night sitter. I have experience working with children aged 2-10, managing tasks such as school pick-up, meal preparation, bathroom and bathing assistance, homework help, and light housekeeping. In addition to working with children in a caregiving capacity, I have one year of student teaching experience, with a six-month placement in a 4th grade ICT classroom and a six-month placement in a PreK setting.
Beyond my professional goals, my love for children is an extension of my interests. Exploring the outdoors, creating art, and engaging in imaginative play are integral components of my approach to childcare. My education in, and passion for, child development and psychology deeply informs my work as a caregiver. I find it incredible personal gratification to play a positive role in young children’s intellectual, emotional, and social development.
