About me

Hello, families! I'm Mikaela. I grew up in Los Angeles, California, and I've been a nanny since I was practically a child myself! My journey in childcare has been a wonderful adventure of nurturing, guiding, and celebrating the unique spirit of each child I meet.

At the core of my approach is a deep-seated belief that children are the bright future. I've dedicated myself to fostering their self-belief and confidence, ensuring they have a strong foundation to chase their dreams when the timing is right. I have experience with infants, toddlers, and school-age kids - no age left behind! In my role as a nanny, I've had the opportunity to manage a diverse array of responsibilities, including the fundamental aspects of childcare, such as changing diapers, preparing balanced age-appropriate meals, and engaging with them through educational activities, imaginative play, creating and exploring art, and encourage their budding interests - whatever they may be! Beyond the usual scope of nannying, I've also taken on additional duties that support the family's overall lifestyle. This has involved assisting with executive tasks like organizing schedules, managing household errands, and even helping out with business needs, which have been instrumental in easing the daily burdens of the parents. My adaptability has been key in accompanying families on their travels (national and international), and providing a consistent and comforting presence for the children in varying environments. Additionally, my love for animals has led me to incorporate pet care into my responsibilities, ensuring that all members of the family, furry ones included, receive the attention and care they need.

In my free time, I have volunteered through equine therapy for special needs children (I have a horse myself and have taught kids to ride) and been a princess for children's birthday parties! I also have a profound understanding of child psychology, ensuring that I meet each child's emotional and developmental needs with empathy and insight. I excel in helping children learn to navigate their feelings and solve problems creatively, fostering independence and emotional intelligence.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Settled into the East Coast and followed my creative passions in my free time. I've just moved across the country from Los Angeles, so we're starting a whole new book, never mind a chapter!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to teach children about artistic creativity, musical appreciation, literacy and storytelling, nature exploration, basic cooking and baking, physical activities (like yoga, dance, or sports), mindfulness and emotional awareness, problem-solving, basic (safe) science experiments, language skills (I speak a bit of french), etiquette and manners, equestrian skills, and pet care.
