About me

I grew up in the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland where I spent most of my time outside in nature, climbing trees and exploring my backyard with my younger sister, older brother, and our friends. For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with art and creating in every form, from painting and sculpting to dancing and creative writing. After high school, I left Baltimore to study Herbal Medicine and Psychology with a focus on early childhood education at a small liberal arts school in Boulder, Colorado. From there I began pursuing my passion in jewelry-making, learning the art of metal-smithing through an apprenticeship with a fine jeweler, and made that my career for the years to follow.

Throughout my path into adulthood, nannying has been a consistent and rewarding part of my life. Growing up, my mom had a daycare in our home where she was licensed to care for 6 children under the age of 6. I loved growing up around other children, and when I was old enough, I loved helping my mom with some of the daycare tasks. At 13 I became a mother’s helper for a 4-year-old little girl and at 15 I began to babysit for a neighbor with a 3-year-old daughter. At 18 I started my first official job as a nanny caring for 2 boys ages 3 months old and 4 years old. I worked with this family for almost 2 years and saw the boys through so many milestones. Since then I have cared for over 10 children, ages 3 months old to 10 years old. I have been a long-term full-time nanny for a family for 3 years, I’ve been an occasional date-night babysitter and I’ve been everything in between. I have extensive experience in infant care (bottle feeding, diaper changing, nap-time, colic, schedule keeping, etc.) and the journey into toddler-hood (solid food transitioning, crawling, walking, talking, potty-training, crib-to-bed transition, starting preschool, etc.). In most of my nannying positions, I have been responsible for bottle and meal prep, taking children for walks or outings, transportation to and from school or camp, bed-time, bath-time, and maybe most importantly, age-appropriate play. I have experience with children on the autism spectrum, children with extreme food allergies, and children with developmental delays and I am CPR certified for infants, children, and adults.

In more recent years I have had 2 very defining experiences that have greatly contributed to my skill-set as a nanny. In 2022 I moved back to Baltimore to care full-time for a loved one with terminal cancer. This experience strengthened and solidified my ability to be a loving, gentle, and nurturing caregiver, remain extremely calm in stressful situations, and care with patience and understanding. Then in the beginning of 2023, I had the opportunity to become an Au Pair for an Italian family in Bologna, Italy. For 7 months I lived with and cared for two girls ages 2 and 4 years old, managing all of their basic needs (meal prep, play, homework help, transportation, outings to the park and pool, laundry, bed-time, bath-time, etc.) and helping them learn English as a second language. During this time I also attended an Italian language school and became fluent in Italian with a C1 language certification.

Being a nanny is the most rewarding job I’ve ever had. I love being a caregiver for young children because I love to teach and watch how eager they are to learn, to witness their big milestones, and because I feel privileged to be a part of such a critical moment in their lives. In working with children I am constantly aware of how important my role is. I understand how crucial the caregiver relationship is to the child and I am always acting on the best version of myself in their presence. Babies and children bring reflection, awareness, joy, and love, and in return I want to give them the tools to thrive and help them become the best version of the people they are meant to be.
