About me

Hello! My name is Amara, and I am a nanny with 6+ years of experience. Children are truly the future, and I can think of no job more rewarding than helping them navigate the world. My long-term goal is to obtain my graduate degree in Early Childhood Education. My mom has been a Montessori teacher my whole life, and seeing her experience in conjunction with my own has shown me the importance of making little ones feel seen, safe, and respected while fostering their growth.

My first ever child care jobs were in gym daycares, where I had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of age groups. Through these jobs I gained experience in facilitating age appropriate play/crafts, navigating social relationships between children, and effective conflict resolution. Soon after, I nannied three children from ages 0-2, 3-5, and 5-7 years old. I picked them up from school daily, took them to the playground or to their extracurricular activities, fed them dinner, did bedtime routines, and assisted with housekeeping, meal prep, and laundry. I was a part-time nanny for a two year old this summer, and in the fall became an after school nanny for a 5 year old. I excel in managing multiple responsibilities, from helping with homework to engaging in imaginative play.

I moved to NYC from Texas almost three years ago out of pure adoration for the city, and I was hired at Warner Brothers. I realized that I did not enjoy working for a huge corporation, so I got a job at a nonprofit called The Nature Conservancy. Unfortunately, very early into my role the organization had massive budget cuts, and my position was eliminated. Although my layoff came as a shock, I took it as an opportunity to re-evaluate what it is I truly felt called to do in my career. I realized I always felt the most fulfilled when I was working with children, and I quickly fell back in love with nannying! I am dedicated to providing not just childcare, but a meaningful and impactful experience for the families I work with. I pride myself on establishing strong bonds with children and maintaining open communication with parents to ensure a harmonious caregiving approach.
