About me

I grew up in Vermont with my younger sister. Growing up, we spent a lot of time outside skiing, skating, hiking, biking, catching all sorts of critters (toads, frogs, caterpillars, etc.). I’ve always loved reading and art and spent plenty of time doing both. I grew up with horses and next to my grandmother’s goat dairy. Being around animals and learning to take care of other beings was a big part of my childhood. At 17 I went to DC and started a BA in International Relations, later switching to an online school and switching my major to Psychology. I’m finishing the degree this spring. I found it was much easier to manage my time studying online while working full time.

Most of my childcare experience has been throughout the duration of my post-secondary education. I’ve primarily worked as a morning and afterschool nanny. Morning duties mostly included waking the kids up, making breakfast, packing lunches, getting them dressed and brushing teeth and hair. Afterschool duties mostly included light errand running and some cleaning, picking kids up from school and taking them to after school activities, making dinner, homework help, playing some games, showers, and occasionally bedtime. Finding fun ways to do everything, joking, playing word games, reading books, and listening to music have made both mornings and evenings much easier for the kids I’ve watched. Hugs and positive contact have also been wonderful tools to help the kids. The kids I’ve watched since starting university have ranged between age 3 and age 11. Prior to leaving home, I watched a baby from 6 months until she was 1. That was in a date night babysitting capacity.

I absolutely love being with kids. It’s wonderful seeing them grow and change, develop their personalities and character, learn how to be wonderful members of society. I grew up in a family of educators and went to a project based high school. I’ve learned that learning and development happen in everything kids do. I love fostering an engaging environment where kids are welcome to explore and be creative while learning their responsibilities.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

I hope to be living life to the fullest, enjoying every moment of it! I’d love to have my own family by then. Hopefully I’ll be in a career I absolutely love. Until that time, I want to enjoy the process.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love doing creative things with kids. Drawing, origami, painting. I think engaging in nature is also important and do so as much as possible.
