About me

I grew up in Westchester County, New York, in the town of Croton on Hudson. When I was younger I loved playing dress up with my sister, putting on musical performances for my parents, and playing with dolls and Legos. I loved to build things and draw and create, and I loved playing outside and exploring. My dad always had the best imaginary games, and we would spend hours playing them. As I grew up, I decided to study Theatre and Studio Art at the University of Vermont, from which I received my dual Bachelor's degree. Now as an adult working with children, my favorite thing to do is inspire the same creativity and imagination my dad inspired within me. I love to get kids on their feet or working with their hands, and I love creating an open environment in which kids can explore and be as silly or kooky as they want! I want to give kids the space to imagine, and have fun, and learn.

My career in childcare began when I was a freshman in high school as a summer camp counselor at Croton Children's Theatre Camp. I worked with a group of 15 kids beginning when they were 8 years old and then every summer until they were 12. My responsibilities included conflict management between campers, leading them to and from activities, and engaging them in the subject matter. I also was responsible for their behavior in classes. After college, I was an after-school babysitter for two children ages 8 and 10. My responsibilities included picking them up from the bus, driving them back from after-school clubs, and helping them with homework. I also would play games with them and take them to the nearby park. My most recent full-time childcare position was with a boy starting when he was 14 months and ending when he turned 2! My responsibilities included diaper changing, meal preparation and feeding, putting him to sleep for naps, activity planning, cleaning and occasional folding of laundry, and conflict management.

Since I moved to the city I have been babysitting for several families here. I babysit for a 3-year-old boy, a 5-year-old girl, and two siblings ages 2 and 8.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

I hope to be working professionally as an actor, and maybe even teaching young people how to have fun in theatre and the arts as well. I would love to eventually get my teaching degree and work in schools with kids and create a safe space for them to try out acting and theatre.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to teach kids to be curious and open. I want to encourage their instincts to question things and look further, and I want them to feel like they can do that with me and bring me along on the adventure! I love to take them on walks, play in a park, and even just make up games indoors! I also love to be creative with them, whether it's building with blocks, drawing, or reading stories. I want them to feel like I respect them and am excited by their ideas and discoveries because I genuinely am! It's the best feeling to watch a child learn about the world around them.
