About me
I grew up in NYC in the East Village with my younger brother. We loved going to the park, playing with friends, doing science experiments, and playing lots of music. I started babysitting when I was in high school and haven't stopped since. I've studied music my whole life and have been playing electric bass since I was 10. Music is still a huge part of my life today and I love to bring it into my childcare whether that be with music lessons, listening to music, or even dancing around to a kid's favorite song. I went to Berklee College of Music and studied Professional Music but I was also very interested in music therapy. I took some psychology classes including child psychology!
Outside of being a touring and session musician for the most part I've always worked in childcare. I started volunteering at The Learning Spring School for Special Needs when I was in middle school. I think this is where I can see my love for caregiving starting to begin. I've also been a music teacher, math tutor, lifeguard, and sleep away camp counselor working with kids ages 5-13. I have a lot of experience with severe allergies and have successfully given the Heimlich maneuver twice. I've done special needs care which included leading learning-centered arts and crafts activities and community-building exercises. Teaching and modeling life skills such as food prep, self-hygiene, and pet care. I also assisted with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. I've babysat all ages from infant to preteen for families with one or more children. This could have looked like doing an after-school pickup. This usually entailed helping with park play, travel to after-school programs, homework, snacks, dinner, light cleaning, and occasionally putting to bed.
I love working with children because I feel like there is so much to learn from them. They can be unfiltered, spontaneous, silly, and even wise in a way that maybe as adults we have a harder time accessing. I think it can be healing to work with kids, being able to reach the deep child part of ourselves, and to give care, safety, structure, and fun.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I love to do arts and crafts, and move our bodies whether that be sports, going to the park, or dancing, music, science experiments, legos etc. I love to teach that it's okay to be creative and share how we feel and be passionate and excited for the things we care about.
