About me

My name is Iris and I am from Panama. My family is from Ecuador, but my sister and I were born in Panama! I graduated from the University of Panama, and I received a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration and Customs. I worked for many years in my career at a big corporation in my country. Two decades ago I came to NY and my friend who was a nanny called me and asked me if I could cover for her at work. At that moment, I realized I could take care of children because I like to spend quality time with them building new experiences. I became a nanny because patience, understanding, and genuine care are my personal keys to developing a loving bond with children, as if they were my own. For example, I can talk and listen attentively to their interests, and that helps them to feel comfortable to share their thoughts. I always give and take my time to build strong relationships with children because every child is unique.
I worked with one family for seventeen years, starting by taking care of their first child. He was a baby boy, who was five months old at the time. Now, he is 16 years old! The children that I was taking care of are older and full-time in the school, so I started to study an RN major at LaGuardia College in the morning time and I’m looking to find a lovely family where I can offer my valuable, honest experience and deliver compassionate personal care to their children.
A nanny can have many years of experience, but in my perception, the first things to have are to be compassionate, protective, and understanding of children's feelings, and behavior. When we use these qualities with them they are going to feel secure and closer to their caregiver. The quote, “By loving them for more than their abilities, we show our children that they are much more than the sum of their accomplishments,” This quote emphasizes the importance of recognizing and valuing children beyond their achievements. Additionally, it highlights that it is crucial to nurture their emotional well-being and self-worth. This quote is the foundation of how I do my child-related work. Being a nanny has many challenges, but initiative, patience, love and support me to help children to be better human beings.
I will be glad I can become your nanny because I can offer your family a wonderful opportunity to develop a loving bond with children as if they were my own. Patience, understanding, and genuine care are the personal keys that will help me in this role. By embodying these qualities, I can create a nurturing environment where children feel loved, supported, and valued. My dedication to their well-being and growth will allow me to build strong relationships based on trust, respect, and open communication. As a nanny, I have the privilege of making a positive impact on the lives of the children I care for, and my commitment to patience, understanding, and genuine care will lay the foundation for a meaningful and lasting connection.
