About me

I grew up in southern Maine, and have three older step-siblings. As a kid, I was an avid reader; I read everywhere and anywhere. I enjoyed going the lake, playing with my dogs, and singing. Before nannying, I worked in customer service for almost 10 years and taught me many important skills that I use daily as a nanny: problem solving, active listening, effective communication, conflict resolution, and patience.

I've had nieces and nephews since the age of 11, and I was always the one playing with the kids at family dinners. I've been babysitting since I took my first CPR course at 13. I was a camp counselor at a summer camp throughout middle and high school. I started professionally nannying in October of 2020, helping the Rice family with their two kids (5 & 7 at the time) who were doing hybrid schooling. I drove the children home from school around lunch; helped with homework and remote schooling; prepared meals, went on bike rides and hikes. After I moved to NY, I started working with the Hardell family. Their oldest was 9 months old when I started (now 3); their twins are 11 months old. During this time, I've meal prepped; helped with solids introduction, administered medication; taken children to appointments, and other outings; gone on trips with the family; completed heavy-duty house cleaning and organization; utilized the Montessori method; helped with potty training; supervised the oldest in the pool; and more!

I've always loved working with children because I believe they often have a really insightful (and incredibly funny, at times) way of looking at the world. It's incredibly important to me to treat children with respect, love, empathy, and boundaries. I fully believe that raising kids to be empathetic humans will absolutely make the next generation kinder and more loving. At the end of the day, children are little humans. At times they're flawed and hilarious and infuriating and loving and complicated and so rewarding to work with. I can't see myself doing anything else!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

Hopefully still working with a wonderful family I find on here! I'd love to find a long-term position within a family, and help them as the children grow up!

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love painting, drawing, making paper snowflakes, and basically any arts and crafts! I also love music, and love to dance around the kitchen with the kiddos. A good walk in the park is a must and reading is a passion I love sharing!!
