About me

I have been working with children for over 23 years. My diverse background has proven invaluable during my career. I grew up traveling between New York, Jamaica and France with a Jamaican father, a French mother and younger brother.
I attended Green Meadow Waldorf school for many years where I fell in love with the arts. I loved learning to knit, crochet, sew, draw and paint. In my high school years I did a lot of babysitting which I really enjoyed.

Later I studied Business Administration for two years at the Institute of Management and Production in Jamaica. I moved back to NY and was hired as an assistant teacher at the Harlem YMCA in their Pre-K program. I helped with circle time and early learning activities. I assisted with swimming lessons, art classes and field trips. I babysat for several couples after work and was then offered a full time nanny job.

The baby was one old month when I started the downtown Manhattan-based position. We spent every other month in Paris where my fluency in French came in handy. I changed diapers, prepared bottles and baby food. I handled every aspect of care including taking the baby to enrichment classes in art and music.

Years later I cared for a girl and boy ages six and nine. I cooked dinner, did after school pick ups, arranged play dates, supervised homework , bath and bedtime routines. Summers were live-in in the Hamptons.

My last two positions were with infants. I started when one child was five months, and the most recent was three months. Both families wanted me to communicate entirely in French with their children so they would learn a second language. I prepared and sterilized bottles, made all organic baby food and maintained nap schedules. I accompanied and participated in swimming, music, gymnastics and art classes. Planned play dates and outdoor activities.

As a nanny, safety and making sure all necessary tasks are completed always comes first. But having fun while learning new things is also very important. Every family has different rules and unique ideas about how they want to raise their children. My job is to help facilitate that plan and their child-rearing philosophy.
