About me

I grew up in the River Valley of Arkansas with a younger sister and the best dogs ever. As a child, I was a competitive gymnast who also took dance, participated in community theatre, and played piano, tennis, and volleyball. I split my summers between the Girls Club where I grew to love arts and crafts, taught tumbling, and was a member of both the water safety team and youth leadership program and my grandparent's cabin where I loved swimming, fishing, and canoeing.

I have spent the past 10 years working part-time, with children as an after-school nanny, and full-time as a caregiver to adults with dementia. First and foremost, I strive to provide a safe and caring environment for everyone under my watch. It truly brings me joy when the charges I work with ask me what I do for a living because we have such fun together that it doesn't seem like a job to them or to me. Both positions require companionship, activity planning, and keeping on top of busy schedules. My time working as a live in elder caregiver meant pitching in with laundry, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and running errands which are tasks I have also helped out with with my childcare families, especially when we travel abroad and I am responsible for the upkeep of our lodgings.

I so look forward into making this transition into full time childcare. I truly love watching children grow and learn new things that help shape them into caring, responsible, young adults. Being a part of that process is simply the best.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

In 5 years I hope to still be working as a professional caregiver having shifted my focus from adults to children. I fully see myself being a part of a family for many, many years.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love playing games with children that secretly have educational elements helping them to learn colors, numbers, strategy, and problem solving. I also love helping with reading or art projects. I read music and play piano so helping kids learn their instruments is also fun for me. I come from an arts background and love dancing, singing, and making costumes/playing dress up with the children I work with. I'm also down for a fun science experiment every now and then. I grew up in and around water so I also really enjoy swimming or building sandcastles on the beach with kids. Being from the South means manners are very important and I teach those to the children I work with along with basic responsibilities like cleaning up after themselves (but I make it fun).
