About me

I'm a native New Yorker born and raised in the South Bronx. I currently reside in the Williamsburg area of Brooklyn. I'm the middle child of 4 children and the only girl. As a child, I was always very fond of school. I excelled academically and was in specialized programs all throughout elementary and middle school. I'm currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Sociology at CUNY School of Professional Studies. After graduation, I plan on pursuing a Master's degree in Bilingual Early Childhood Education to jumpstart my career as a Spanish Immersion Montessori Educator.

I have about 5 years of experience working in a variety of child-care settings; from daycares, to elementary schools, to leading gymnastic classes. I've also had the pleasure of caring for many children as a freelance babysitter/nanny in private residences. The breadth of my experience is with infants, toddlers, and school aged children. I'm comfortable caring for up to four children at a time. I'm a heritage Spanish speaker and love incorporating the language in both classroom instruction and at-home care.

In my spare time, I love indoor gardening, getting lost in a good book, trying new recipes, and most of all, spending time with my cat Luna. I'm a little bit of a homebody, but I love warm weather and sitting out in the sun. Beach weather is my fave! I really am inspired by the Montessori philosophy and try to incorporate it into my work as an educator. My favorite thing about Montessori is that there is a strong emphasis on encouraging children to care for themselves and the world around them. I love empowering young children and instilling them with confidence. Early childhood is such a pivotal time in a child's life, and I'm so grateful to be apart of the growth and development of the children in my care.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

I hope to be a lead teacher at a progressive Montessori school.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I really enjoy Practical Life Montessori activities (cleaning, caring for plants, learning to care for oneself). Not only do they foster practical skills, but they also help develop focus, patience, and give children a sense of purpose and responsibility.
