About me
I grew up in Manhattan and absolutely adore NYC! I have an older brother and a younger sister who I loved to help care for as a child. Growing up, I was a voracious reader, and still am to this day. I was raised to be curious and have a love of learning that I bring into my work every day. In college, I pursued a degree in Social Work with the intention of working with children, and I learned how to compassionately work with clients to provide them with the help and resources they may need in times of struggle.
I have been working with children since I was a teenager, when I started babysitting for families in my community. Caring for others - especially children - has always come naturally to me and was something that brought me a lot of joy, so I continued babysitting through high school and eventually became a nanny during my college years. For five years, I worked for one family who started with two boys, then had two more while I was working with them. I absolutely loved it, and gained a lot of experience working with newborns, infants and toddlers. I also became very skilled at juggling the needs of multiple children in different developmental stages at once, and learned the importance of clear communication with the parents I work with as well as sticking to a routine and getting the children out every day. Since then, I've also worked as an after-school sitter and done school pickups, homework help, dinner prep and bedtimes. I am a confident swimmer, have experience with baby sign and children with special needs.
My childcare philosophy is one of open-mindedness and empathy. I try very hard to "practice what I preach" and teach the children in my care how to effectively communicate practically and emotionally. I am absolutely fascinated by children's development and love to watch each child I work with as they develop and grow - and I believe my job is to help their parents in their journey to help their children become the best humans they can be!
I have professional child care experience with...
- Infants
- Toddlers
- Preschoolers
- School-aged (K-5)
- Multiples
- Special Needs
In 5 years, I hope to be...
...still nannying! I hope to still be working with children, have hopefully had the chance to travel and finally adopt a dog.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
...include how to always be learning. I love to share my curiosity and love of learning with the children I work with and always try to teach them to ask questions, to look for new experiences and to never be afraid to be wrong.
