About me
My name is Brooke and I currently reside in the Upper East Side. I’m originally from North Carolina and am a part of a very big family (I’m the baby of 4 kids). My childhood was predominantly filled with outdoor/physical activities, the arts (music, film, dance, fine art, etc.), and lots of encouragement to explore, express and imagine. I’ve carried the principles and lessons I learned as a child into my adult life and love the opportunity to be able to invest in the next generation the same way I was invested in.
I graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Magazine Journalism and Photography. Post-graduation, I’ve continued to pursue my craft and am a freelance artist in the city. My craft has never interfered with my role as a nanny. I’ve actually found that being a nanny has helped me become a better artist. It reminds me to slow down, practice patience, simplify and see with childlike eyes. I see so much beauty and power through the children I nanny for; it’s made me a better artist and human.
Professionally, I’ve been a babysitter, part-time and full-time nanny, tutor, and mentor. I’ve been in the professional childcare industry for around six years. I’ve worked with children ranging from infants all the way to 13 years old. I’ve prepared bottles, managed diaper changes, managed nap times/bed times/bath times, potty trained, prepared nutritious meals, led educational and artistic activities, developed one on one bonds with each child I’ve cared for, managed drop off and pick-ups, led transitions into solid foods, implemented outdoor activities, read lots of books, managed household cleaning and organizing, communicated with parents, completed laundry, engaged in stimulating activities and conversations, etc. As a nanny or caregiver, you see it all and do as much as you possibly can to be there for your children and your family.
Being a nanny has allowed me to view the world with childlike eyes and has allowed me to give and receive unconditional love. The opportunity to partner with a family in raising their children is such a beautiful trust and it’s an honor to invest in the next generation and encourage them to be the best they can.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
Physical Health (walking, swimming, playgrounds, moving our bodies, etc.) Visual Arts (painting, drawing, sculpting, pottery, etc.) Dancing (I love having "dance parties" with the kids I nanny: post-nap, post-meltdown, starting/finishing the day, etc. It's a great mood (re)setter.) Communication (talking through our emotions and teaching emotional intelligence at every age level, discussing the "why", asking questions, healthy communication, etc.) Kindness (helping others, encouragement, giving back, using kind words, taking care of ourselves and others) Confidence (helping them to be brave, try new things, providing encouragement and positive language, affirmations, etc.)
