About me

Born and raised in the 'Heart of America', Kansas City, I grew up in a warm, lively household with my wonderful mother and one brother. Coming from a visually and musically inclined artistic family, these attributes were emphasized in my own life from a young age; for many years I spent my time training in ballet and piano, singing in a choir, and being a nature enthusiast/long-time Girl Scout. I graduated from a Performing Arts Academy and continued to build on my creative pursuits by producing an album, performing in local venues, creating original garment pieces, and displaying artwork in galleries. In addition, I spent time frequently traveling to major cities, and expanding my own worldview in the process. I was first introduced to childcare organically, as I have an expansive extended family of 15 aunts and uncles with many children of all ages that I would often babysit growing up. I always knew that being a positive role model would serve as an important value in my life and over the years I worked professionally as a care provider through platforms such as Care.com and Sittercity. Following my 8 years in the restaurant industry, while working throughout the pandemic as a manager/bartender, I decided that it was time to get back to what was aligned with my passions and purpose full-time as a dedicated Childcare Professional.

Since Spring 2021 I have been building on my childcare portfolio and skillset, building a rapport with many families in search of sincere assistance. My long-term roles have become a source of true happiness and fulfillment within my life and it is a special experience being able to provide peace of mind and security for the children and parents alike. I've become well-acquainted with infancy through child development stages, as I've cared for those anywhere between 4 month-8 years and up to three children at a time.

Since my roles have varied greatly between positions, I am easily adaptive to what is needed from me, whether it be working with an infant through their sleep routines, bottle feedings, tummy time, etc. to school-aged children, where we create playful yet structured routines of going for walks, having nutritional meals, and taking them on educational and interactive outings. My gentle approach to behavior correction is listening to, validating the experience of, and redirecting the children to model an empathetic yet problem-solution approach.

I bring a lot of my creativity, innovation, and nurturing nature to my individualized positions and have prioritized maintaining an uplifting and enriching role, as I understand it will leave an impression on them for years to come. My hope is always to illuminate my best version and in turn, encourage children I care for to feel encouraged to do the same. I hope to always serve in a meaningful capacity toward the mission of assisting the future generation to become well-adjusted and empowered individuals.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

finished with my educational background and vocational training, having worked with an incredible family for many years. My dream has served as building a solid foundation to uplift a community of people: a passionate directive on creating opportunities for children/women alike. As I continue to elevate in my own professionalism, education/training, and creative virtuoso I hope to cultivate the knowledge and understanding of bringing that ambition and initiative to life. In addition to my hopes of expanding my network of providing care to others, I would love to continue to expand my worldview by traveling plenty outside of the country.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I'm someone who loves spending time outdoors in any capacity, so sharing that with children is very important to me: sharing information pertaining to on-land, solar, aquatic systems and their function. Diving into different kinds of rocks, plants, animals, and ecosystems is something that's very fun to get children of all age groups engaged in, as it sparks their curiosity towards understanding themselves, the world they interact with, and the parts of it that we are not able to access but still learning of it's fundamental role in our everyday lives. I find creativity to be really valuable when it comes to interacting with young ones as we can spend hours on multi-media arts & crafts whether it be painting, drawing, collages, jewelry making, etc. In addition, I find that building can be a great imaginative outlet: making forts, magnets, legos, etc. This sensory stimulation and engagement I feel makes children feel a lot more confident in building their own skillset in the long-term, as it is the foundation towards trying something until we get better and allowing that compassion towards ourselves within "failures" and "successes" early on. I've had the pleasure of being able to take the children I care for on many outings to museums, parks, swimming pools, educational activity centers, toy stores, cultural cuisines and I believe it serves as a wonderful opportunity to teach children about all the different kind of spaces to occupy outside of our homes, and how to appreciate our self-esteem as we navigate the outside world and social situations.
