About me

I grew up in Brooklyn Ny Flatbush area as the last child. I fell in love with running track , anything beauty related such as hair, swimming, dancing, and gymnastics. Eventually I went on to study Children and youth studies/ Early childhood education at CUNY Brooklyn College and will be receiving my Bachelor’s this year June 2023. During my college career I always worked in childcare centers or schools weather it was field work, volunteer work, or just actual work. I also started my own hair business in college as hairstylist I became a licensed hairstylist and I want to continue to grow my business by eventually expanding one day and hiring other hairstylist work for me at different salons. After I graduate this June I do plan to continue my passion for working with children in as teacher and as a caregiver by baby sitting children on my free time. I plan on going back to school to further my education become certified as well.

As a the last child of four children, I was brought up by my siblings, and helped raised my younger cousins. I spent my high school years babysitting and teaching in summer youth programs, at my mothers daycare and volunteering at camps and daycare centers. During college, I worked at bright Horizons as a lead infant/ toddler teacher (12 children , ages 6weeks -2 years old ) I also spent those summers privately babysitting infants and toddlers. , I had a consistent after school babysitting job with a family of two. Boy and girl ages 4 and 2 Duties included picking them up from school, providing a snack, homework help, meal prepping, and putting them down for bed. While working in New York at one of the bright horizons centers, I have been an after-school and weekend babysitter for one of my students a 1-year-old girl. This job included providing a snack or meal prepping such as Lunch and dinner, providing entertainment, putting her down for naps, taking her to appointments such doctors or swimming lessons, changing diapers and helping her with potty training. Because i was her former teacher mom requested that I create daily activities with her when ever I baby sit to help her to continue to learn and in a fun and playful way. I would do house work to keep the area safe and clean, as well as give her bath before putting her to bed. In the past also have babysat for a family of 3 boys 2-year-old boy, 5-year old boy and a 7-year-old boy. This family moved to Georgia as of year 202 but, when I used to babysit for them they would bring me over whenever they needed help in a Uber or by picking me up. I had the opportunity to even travel with this family on mini trips such as upstate and north Carolina and was on call anytime they needed help.

Working and being able to work with children is special Gift. It take patience and unconditional love. Believe it or not Children looks up to the adults as an example and I find caregivers and teachers it important to sent good boundaries for all children to grow and become successful in life. After all “children are the future” so being mindful of what I say and do with them is something I always remind myself. My goal is to help children create a more loving and peaceful world for all of us. The reason I love working with the ages 5 and under so much is because the first five years of a child’s life designs who they will essentially be for life. I believe if we really hone in on this and be mindful and loving when we raise our children, they can grow up to be outstanding beings of the world. I’d like to help them become these people!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

5 years from Now I will be 30 years old. I hope at 30 I will be married and have already started my family. I hope to have brought my own home and traveling around the world with my family. In order for this to be possible within the next five years I will be going back to school to complete my maters degree and open my own daycare center. Growing up my mother own her own daycare which inspired me to want to work with children and families to create a learning space for their children to grow and flourish as they are the future leaders in todays world. Not only did my mother inspire me to want to open a daycare center be she inspired me to want me a business women in General. I love doing hair it’s one of passions just as much as I love working with children. Currently I’m a hairstylist and I also sell other beauty products but I want to expand my small business and open multiple salons in different states. I want to be able to offer clients a luxury experience while also being affordable and include childcare area and in salon where their children can play and do fun activities while their parent is being serviced.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love to teach sign language to help young ones communicate, especially children who are learning multiple languages or having speech delays I know how frustrated it can be when you want to verbalize something but don’t know how to. I find that teaching this skill helps children to communicate with you and let you know exactly what they need. I love to do a lot of sensory activities such cooking like baking cakes or cookies, I love to teach children the ABC, colors, Help them with reading and math skills, pretend they are little scientist be doing min projects or something simple as discovery walks and looking rocks, I love taking children to parks and swimming during the summer. If they’re younger like infants or toddler I love to do tummy time activities, mirror play, sing songs, read stories, paint and so much more.
