About me
As the oldest sibling, babysitting comes second nature. I grew up in a family of four in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a child, I enjoyed spending time outside, doing arts and crafts, and making friends. After high school, I pursued a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Art at the University of Oregon. I went on to complete my Master of Science in Psychology at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
My experience with childcare began in high school babysitting children on date nights. During summers and seasonal breaks in college, I cared for children between the ages of three and twelve. In college, I worked at the university’s Child Development Center in a classroom of three-year-olds. My role primarily consisted of overseeing child safety, facilitating peer interactions, group reading, playing, as well as engaging in activities. After college, I spent a year working as a Classroom Assistant at a therapeutic day school that served children who experience emotional and behavioral challenges. While in graduate school, I also worked part-time as a nanny for a group of two-year-olds and carefully followed Covid guidelines to protect the safety of each family in our bubble. Most recently, I nannied for an eight-year-old girl for the past year and a half. My primary responsibilities included making her breakfast, getting her ready for the day, taking her to school, and walking the family dog. As part of my Master's program, I chose to gain clinical experience by providing school-based therapy to children at a local elementary school. I enjoyed using child-led activities and play therapy approaches to encourage each child's emotional and social development.
I am motivated to work in childcare because of the excitement I have for creating bonds with children and my desire to make a positive impact in their lives. As a nanny, former classroom assistant, and former children's therapist, I highly value the opportunity to build meaningful connections with children, understand their needs, and support their emotional and social well-being through connection and positive relationships.
