About me
I grew up near Boulder, Colorado. I took dance classes from a young age, and as a teen, I helped run rehearsals and teach classes at my studio. After high school, I moved to Vermont, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Since then, I’ve spent time as a toddler teacher in a childcare center and a preschool, as well as nannying, in addition to babysitting part time.
I attended a K-12 school during high school, where I assisted a second grade teacher for an hour each day, for over a year. I also spent some time volunteering at a daycare, working with toddlers and preschoolers. My first paid job was as an early learner assistant at a tutoring center, where I helped children ages 3-6 with their work.
After college, I moved to the North Jersey area, and worked as a toddler teacher with a class of 13 2-3 year olds. I also looked after a little boy, who was 2.5 when I met him, in the afternoons. I cared for him on a regular basis until he was 5 years old, with one year of this time spent as his full-time nanny. When he went back to school, I became a lead toddler teacher at a preschool, this time in a class of 15 children, ages 12-22 months at the beginning of each school year. I worked there for nearly two years, where I wrote lessons/activities, assisted with diapering/naps/meals, communicated with parents, and trained new teachers. I've spent the past 5 months nannying for two children, now ages 10 months and 2.5 years. During this time, I've helped the infant to start taking a bottle, transition to solid foods, accomplish many gross motor milestones, and sleep better, among other things. I've also had the privilege of helping the 2.5 year old increase his receptive and expressive vocabularies, continue to gain independence, and grow as a thoughtful, kind person.
The experiences a child has in their first years of life shape them, and I believe so strongly in the importance of treating children with love and respect. My goal is to continue to work to be the best version of myself in the lives of the children in my care.

In 5 years, I hope to be...
In 5 years I hope to be caring for children, probably directly, or perhaps by doing some work that will help children to be treated with the respect, kindness, and love they deserve. Regardless, I hope that the work I do to better myself results in me being a better person in the lives of the children I work with, or the children that my work affects.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I love to help children be aware of, identify, and become comfortable with their feelings/emotions. I'm passionate about modeling, and thereby teaching, children to be kind to themselves and others. Another thing I love is encouraging children to become more independent, and resilient; when a child I've worked with grows in their ability to try again, and to believe that they can do things, even things that are difficult, it's so rewarding.
