About me

I grew up mostly in Ghana. I come from a big African family with many siblings and children. In Africa, childcare is the responsibility of the entire community hence the saying 'it takes a village''. Everybody is expected to take care of their younger siblings and cousins. Our sense of responsibility is nurtured from childhood. Helping family members to take care of their children was not seen as a job until recently when people started working professionally as nannies and babysitters. I have worked as both a full-time and an on-call nanny, supporting newborns on call, multiples, and children from 6 weeks to Grade 4 on a full-time and volunteering basis. I have also worked with a child with developmental delays and assisted some to reach their milestones earlier. I have also been a great support for a mum who was undergoing therapy due to postpartum depression.
As a self-starter, my interest is in raising children the right way to meet unique family expectations. I am available during the week and also during the weekend as needed. Highly skilled in creating fun, engaging, and educational activities, while demonstrating a priority for children’s safety, development, and well-being. I am skilled in building trusted relationships with families through collaboration and effective communication with mutual respect.
I find joy in many things kids related and being a trusted family support for parents with busy schedules gives me so much pride. The bond I am able to create with children who are not mine biologically creates a sense of great fulfillment. My interests in STEM and enthusiasm for engineering are some of the ways I keep my 'little' clients intrigued and engaged. I believe in raising independent kids who will be equipped for this fast-paced and ever-changing world and building emotional intelligence and avoiding trauma are some of the many ways. I believe that every adult around a child needs to be grounded in order not to pass on our fears to kids. I LOVE KIDS and I am always looking forward to positively impacting on families I encounter.
