About me
I was born and raised in Harlem, NYC. I’m the oldest child of 5 girls, therefore, being a leader and nurturer has always come naturally for me. From an early age, I was tasked with caring for my younger siblings, whether it was helping them with their homework or preparing an after-school snack. This is where my passion for childcare started. I’ve never found it hard to jump in to help my parents. Therefore, the decision to start my career in childcare, as a teenager, was an easy one that has left no regrets.
I started my very first job in childcare as a YMCA after-school counselor in 2005. My time at the YMCA gave me the ‘fast pace environment’ experience I needed to be successful.
I then took on the role of an Assistant Teacher at Bright Horizons, where I taught a number of children ages 6 weeks - 10 years old. I then progressed in my career and became a lead teacher. During my time at Bright Horizons, I implemented whole class, small group, and one on one instruction within the core subjects. I generated a well-rounded curriculum, which incorporated differentiated lessons within the core subjects based on age. I also provided infants with basic necessities, including food, cleanliness, and rest time, while ensuring we maintained a structured routine.
During my time at Bright Horizons, I began to nanny on the weekends for my students. This is how I got my start in the nanny field. I’ve had the pleasure to nanny for four wonderful families over the years, ages newborn to 10 years old.
My most current position is with a family from midtown Manhattan, with whom I had the most exciting joyful roller coaster experience. I’ve had the pleasure of working with this family since 2019 where I care for two boys, ages 4.5 and 2 years old. I started when their 1st son was just 11 months old. We worked with each other through the pandemic, when we were all sheltered in place. I would send them weekly art activities & lesson plans to keep their son engaged in order to ensure consistent development.
As a child, I enjoyed going on adventures around my neighborhood, and exploring different playgrounds, especially the sprinklers! I wanted to give this experience to all children, therefore I continued this journey as a nanny. We joyfully and curiously explore the city and its vast parks, zoos & museums. I also take pride in providing emotional support to both the children and parents. I have supported my current family academically and emotionally while helping them cope with the autism spectrum diagnosis of their oldest son.
Safety and fun have always been my top priority, however, cleanliness, organization, and a strong routine comes second, as I believe children can not thrive in a chaotic environment. Although I have many years of experience working with children in different environments, it wasn’t until I had children of my own that I truly embodied connecting my passion with the innate nurturing love that I am able to give to many.I strive to share some of my most loved experiences with children as learning new things helps us obtain new knowledge.
