About me

I grew up in San Clemente, CA with 2 younger twin brothers. As a child, I loved to do anything creative (and still do!). I was very into making jewelry, theatre, and hair and makeup. My family was active, so I enjoyed camping, biking, hiking, and going to the beach. I moved to New York for college and attended Pace University. I graduated in 2021 with a BA in Peace and Justice Studies and Women's and Gender Studies. After graduation, I got a job doing fundraising for a local nonprofit. I'm passionate about the work but made the decision to go to cosmetology school in the fall after deciding I wanted a more creative career. Babysitting and nannying were a big part of my high school and college years to make money but also because I love kids!
I've been working with kids for 10 years. I started babysitting at 14 for neighbors and family friends. When babysitting I worked with kids from 6 months to 15 years old. I'd cook meals, tidy up, play with the kids, do arts and crafts, and help them get ready for bed. In college, I nannied for a family in Brooklyn who had 2 kids, a 7 and a 9-year-old boy and a girl. I'd pick them up from school and take them to practices, rehearsals, and play dates. At their home, I'd help with homework, cook dinner, and tidy. I did this on weeknights for a year. During the summers for 3 years, I worked as a camp counselor for children's theatre camps. This position was full-time and I'd direct shows, play with the kids, plan and distribute allergen-friendly snacks, and lead workshops on crafts, singing, characters, and other activities to keep them engaged. In this role, I worked with 30-50 kids weekly, ages 5-15 years old. In this role, I worked with kids who are autistic, have CP, and other disabilities.
When I'm not working, I crochet, embroider, and carve linocut prints for my art small business. I feel best when I'm being creative and love working with kids who are also creative. When I work with kids, I'm not one to patronize or treat a child like they don't know anything for being a kid. We all have our own knowledge, life experience, and interests we bring to the table, and I learn so much from the kids I care for.
