About me

Hello there! I'm Amani, a childcare provider who has a deep passion for the performing arts. Growing up in Raleigh, North Carolina, alongside my younger brother under the care of our amazing single mother, I experienced firsthand the importance of love, support, and nurturing in a child's life. After completing high school, I eagerly pursued my love for the arts by attending Wake Technical College, where I obtained an Associate's degree in Arts. Fueling my passion for theater, I made the life-changing decision to move to the vibrant city of New York, enrolling at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy to study Theatre Arts. Immersed in a world of creativity and expression, I honed my skills in acting, improvisation, and the art of storytelling.

In 2020, I relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona, where I fell in love with the warm weather and stunning surroundings. However, I couldn't shake off my longing for the fast-paced atmosphere of the East Coast, which is why I am thrilled to be back in a bustling city environment once again.

My theatrical background has proven invaluable in my role as a childcare provider. Every day, I utilize my improvisation skills to create imaginative play scenarios that engage children in fun and creative activities. I also harness the power of storytelling to capture their attention and bring stories to life, fostering their imagination and love for narratives. With experience as a full-time nanny for several families, I have had the pleasure of caring for children of various ages, ranging from newborns to 13 years old. Most recently, I had the opportunity to work with the Dreisbach family in Raleigh, where I provided attentive care for their 3- and 5-year-old children. This involved picking them up from school, driving them to extracurricular activities, preparing meals, and assisting with bedtime routines. In Scottsdale, I worked with the Darcy/Mackey family, taking care of an 18-month-old child full-time while also supporting the online schooling of a 5-year-old. Through this experience, I acquired knowledge and expertise in managing food allergies as I diligently ensured the safety and well-being of the child with various allergies. Additionally, I had the privilege of working with the Chlohessy-Schuster family in Phoenix, where I created a structured daily schedule and organized sensory play and other educational activities. To further enhance my skills, I obtained certification as a postpartum doula through DONA International, expanding my ability to provide comprehensive care and support.

In addition to my nanny experience, I also had the opportunity to work as a party princess for Raleigh Party Princess/Characters. This delightful role allowed me to entertain children by dressing up as their favorite characters and hosting various fun-filled activities, bringing joy and enchantment to their special occasions.

What I cherish most about childcare is the collaboration with parents to provide the best care and support for their children's growth and development. I firmly believe in encouraging children to express themselves, try new things, and explore their interests. Incorporating their individual preferences and feedback, I tailor our activities to create an engaging and nurturing environment. With my theater and arts background, I offer a unique perspective to childcare, constantly seeking innovative and exciting ways to keep children entertained and stimulated.

The most rewarding part of my job is witnessing the genuine joy and sense of accomplishment on children's faces as they learn, grow, and achieve new milestones. It is a privilege to be part of their journey, making a positive impact on their lives and helping to shape their futures.
