About me

I grew up here in New York City, on the Upper East Side, and then in Chelsea. I have a little sister and we are very close. I graduated from Bard College with a degree in Studio Art.

I have been working with kids for many years, beginning in middle school with children who lived in the same building as my family. Since college, I've been babysitting for a few families. I started with the family I've worked with the longest and am closest to in 2017-- their daughter was 3 months old, she's now 6, and has a 3.5-year-old brother! When I first started I would mostly play with their daughter and put her down for naps. As she's gotten older we've built an amazing relationship, I am very close to her. We have big conversations, make art together, and read stories. Her little brother has lots of energy so sometimes it can be a challenge to engage both their energies, but we make it work! She's an amazing big sister and I love seeing how she finds ways to make him feel better when he's upset. Since 2017, I have been a babysitter, camp counselor, tutor, and most recently preschool teacher. My skills include fluent French, the art of all kinds, tutoring (writing, french), and CPR + First Aid certification. I also love reading stories to children, making them up, and engaging children creatively.

The other family I've known the longest, I started with in 2018 when their son was 1, and he is now almost 6. I used to read to him, bring him to the playroom, sometimes go to the park, and do bedtime duty. Now when I see him, he loves to talk about history, asks questions about my life, and is very funny. His little brother is adorable and they love to play together, even though they're at different levels. With the older brother, we are having complex conversations and he asks me questions that really make me think!

I am an artist, and I love working with children because of how they see the world, their natural open-mindedness, and their creativity. I see it as a gift to spend time with them and build relationships with them. I believe children are capable, interesting, intelligent individuals who need our love, encouragement, and most of all to be listened to.

In 5 years, I hope to be...

doing what I love, working with children, and making art. Maybe pursuing another degree.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I love making art with children, of any kind, but especially painting, drawing, collage, and process art. I also love reading to children. I enjoy tutoring too, French, and writing skills (for older children/teens.) I love going on fun adventures and outings, like to the park or the museum.
