About me

I was born in NY but raised in Geneva, Switzerland until the age of 18. My parents immigrated from Haiti where they created a beautiful life for themselves in the French speaking part or Switzerland.
The island of Haiti also speaks French which played a major role in determining the positions I applied for in life and helped define a more structured path in career choosing.

It gave me a clear advantage when moving to the U.S. as a bilingual student who soon will be trilingual with the interactions and teachings of Haitian Creole with my peers at school.

I am the oldest of 3 children and the only one living in America. The other 2 prefer the quiet, organized life of Switzerland vs. the constant noise and chaos of NYC although they were also both born here in NY.
We attended the best academies, schools and programs. Had access to the best music schools in Geneva. We did a bunch of extra-curricular activities every week. After school was always dedicated to ballet and singing classes but more specifically piano lessons (which I still play and am able to teach today.) What an amazing gift to possess and be able to use to your advantage as an adult.
We also had theater/acting drama, contemporary dance classes, violon,
ice skating... You name it, my parents signed up for it! Looking back now, as I have fully grown and matured, I realize that these extra-curricular courses turned out to be nothing else but dollar signs in disguise, as they later would become extra-curriculum skills listed on a résumé to get paid extra for. I'm forever grateful to my parents for having such grit for their children. They played a pivotal role in our success and gave us such a great start in life. We, till this day all share a very special bond and close relationship along with my siblings.

However, when I turned 18, I dreamed of living abroad with my extended family located in Florida, New York, Boston, Pennsylvania, Montréal Canada and leave my hometown behind, as i knew there were so much to explore in the world.
I always felt like the pace of Switzerland didn't suit me so well.
Though I loved growing up there,
I wanted to see and experience more. Thrive in a faster, more demanding environment and New York provided just that!

I first moved to Florida where I attended and finished high school in Ft-Lauderdale, before moving to NY for college to study Business Marketing and Fashion.
Once there, I quickly realized that my career choice wasn't exactly making me as happy as I had anticipated it.
After countless jobs ranging from working in hospitals as a nurse's aid pursuing a nursing career as my mom and sister are both nurses, I got hired at JFK airport and worked as a passenger agent. I really enjoyed speaking French all day while checking in passengers. Which tied everything back to how being fluent in another language greatly influenced my career choices. I landed jobs as a server/barista in various restaurants and coffee shops. Switched back and forth between French, English and Créole as needed as I met customers from all over the world.
Held several managerial positions in retail, clothing stores, hotels but somehow found myself in the childcare industry and havent left since!

At first, the opportunity was presented to me by a customer who shopped at the vintage shop where I worked at the time.
Soon after, I knew I had found a match between what I was naturally good at and a job that needed to be fun but done accurately.
She spoke French like me and thought it would be an awesome gig to seriously consider because of the high demand of French speakers in the field. She was convinced I would do a good job as a nanny and she was right.
We bonded over the language we shared so she decided to post an ad in her parents' group and I got a job the same week! The hours were flexible and the pay was awesome. Way more than I had ever made so far.
My bubbly, customer service enthusiastic personality matched the job description to perfection. I made it through the first month of working for the family and the rest is history!

Nannying has always been the best, highest paying job I've ever had here in America. It's an industry where I can not only be myself while sharing my skills and excelling as a go getter but also please my employers for doing a bit more than what's expected of me, feel appreciated for it and make a difference in kids' life by teaching them a foreign language.
Through French songs, fun activities, baby sign language and contests to win prizes they like, all my little students speak French in no time. It's a very uplifting and gratifying experience.
I am able to travel abroad with families, have a recently updated pediatric and adult CPR certification. I am a good swimmer, comfortable around pets, (allergic to cats unfortunately) and a safe driver operating cars and ambulette services. I worked with the elderly and special needs community in nursing homes and group homes settings.

Experience in these various fields have allowed me to shine in my nanny career. It has allowed me to feel good and accomplished about myself for getting things done in a timely manner pretty easily. It's about constantly anticipating the next part of the day, transition into it gracefully and staying ahead of any potential changes of plans that may upset the children. (or parents)
I've learned how to cope with unpleasant behaviors and complete
tricky tasks simultaneously with sometimes very difficult children (and parents) and meet deadlines all while keeping things under control.
There's a lot of navigating around delicate situations and quick decision making involved.
At the end of each day, I feel content and confident with my performance using the feedback I get from parents and fellow nannies, knowing I did the best I could.
My philosophy in life is to always move with respect, integrity and professionalism.
Even when parents are not so nice all the time, I believe in getting your point across by always choosing to
remain calm and put together to assure an optimal work environment for all.
Through years of experience,
I know how to manage to pull through uncomfortable situations with a victorious outcome everytime.
The saying "going above and beyond" never made more sense and fits me like a glove! I am very proud to be an educator and nanny. I'm happy with my career choice and feel good about how I handled all these years of dealing with challenging situations.
All were worth it because they gave a sense to all the efforts produced to make sure things ran smoothly in the household. Which is why I take my job very seriously as it is ultimately the only thing that matters in the end: a smooth, productive day where everyone is happy and leaves feeling accomplished.
Adults AND children. Being a nanny does it for me every time. I love it and wouldn't do anything else!

In 5 years, I hope to be...

The CEO and owner of a 24hr daycare and nanny wellness center. I deeply believe that uniting all the parenting skills and different nanny working methods could be put to good use in one place serving several families at a time. I would love to finally bridge the gap between last minute date nights plans and finding reliable care at an affordable price the same day! Resolving constant conflicts with childcare needs and hours available for nannies to work. I hope to bring some light in a world of continuous challenges around childcare and help people live a more balanced healthy life as a result of being stress free from childcare related responsibilities. I want to be able to create a safe and trustworthy establishment for parents and children to enjoy long term.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

I've conducted several French playgroups and music classes, teaching songs, baby sign language, piano lessons, arts and crafts, dance and movement. I'm also a pretty confident swimmer, safe driver, (drove children to a paydates at the beach or local swimming pool) outdoor trails, I've gone fishing and camping a few times.
