About me

I grew up 30 minutes north of Atlanta, Georgia as a middle child with 3 other siblings. Back then I loved going to the neighborhood pool, doing flips on our trampoline, and watching all things Disney Channel. I graduated from the University of Georgia in May 2020 with a degree in Biology. Upon graduating I started working in the supply chain at a pharmaceutical company which took me to Dallas, TX, and Rockville, Maryland. All throughout this time I have continued to work in childcare and that is because I love it.

I got my first babysitting job when I was 12 and I just never stopped. I've been a caretaker at my hometown's church nursery, a preschool summer teaching assistant, an occasional long-term sitter, a part-time nanny, a Flex/Temporary nanny with a DC-based agency, and now a Flex nanny with Smart City Nannies. It feels odd to spell out the things I've done while working in childcare because to me they're just a part of standard care: diaper changes, cleaning skinned knees, reading stories before bed, going on a scavenger hunt through the house, heading to the neighborhood playground. I do have experience with high-functioning autism. All jobs though involve the same thing which is following the parent's instructions, being vigilant in regard to safety, and having the emotional intelligence necessary to make a child feel seen and heard.

I love to act, read sci-fi, watch sci-fi, go out to yummy restaurants, stay active, and overall just use my imagination. These parts of me come out when I work with children in the form of playing pretend and holding character for however long, finding ways to make mealtime more enjoyable, and running around for as long as I can. My philosophy when it comes to childcare is safety, compassion, and treating children with the same respect I would anybody else.
