About me

Hi. My name is Kathyann. I am very family oriented and consider myself to have wonderful traits and qualities. I achieved my High School Diploma and am presently seeking to attend International Development Institute NY to join their child specialist program. I am also a member of the International Nanny Institute (INA). I am a devoted mother to 3 children. I grew up in the Caribbean with a dedicated, supportive, and loving mother. I am the first of six children. That first child placement came with responsibilities! One of the responsibilities was caring for my younger siblings and being a good example. Thus, I grew up always making an extra effort to be trustworthy, tolerant, and patient. This caregiving responsibility was also extended to my younger cousins. What followed? I became the family babysitter gaining a lot of experience with kids at a very young age. My heart opens up to children. I am drawn to children and children are drawn to me. I continue to care for kids as my own.

I simply love children and enjoy helping them learn and grow through every stage of their young lives. Being a nanny is just not a job to me, it is doing what I do best. I am dedicated to helping to shape children into confident, intelligent, happy people who will carry those traits on into adulthood. Throughout my eighteen years of experience, I have cared for children of varying ages including newborns, toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary-age children. I truly enjoy the challenge of dealing with big emotions and the joy of celebrating milestones.

My great intuition allows me to connect with each child individually, Therefore I can cater to their unique personality, allowing me to develop a bond with each child, hence I can encourage, reinforce, and reward behaviors that foster a consistently happy environment for them to thrive. I am a team player with an all-hands-on-deck approach to my daily responsibilities. I am an extension of a family when the parents are not there. I am reliable and will work with the parent's choice of care as guidance within my caregiving responsibilities.

My care for kids also includes educating and stimulating their minds. I enjoy teaching children new things and bringing joy to their beautiful faces. Daily creative and stimulating activities are part of my daily routine with kids. I am creative and playful. I believe children can learn through supportive, creative, safe, and constructive play that can assist in their physical development, mental development, and social development. As a childcare provider, each child's personal health and safety are of utmost importance to me. I have the ability to stay calm under stressful situations because children can be unpredictable sometimes and I need to be able to think quickly and respond to their needs. In my many years of experience as a nanny, as a result, I acquired the ability to problem solve and make decisions which sometimes saves the day as I can think ahead and anticipate any potential problem or need.

I am energetic and I look forward to the daily activities which include outdoor play, visits to the museum, visits to the zoo, going to the playground, playdates, and doing fun indoor activities. Arts and crafts, board games, puzzles, pretend play. I am open to light housekeeping, cooking healthy meals, preparing snacks for the kids, organizing the children's rooms, toys, and play area, cleaning up after snacks, lunch, and dinner. I also do the children's laundry. I was privileged to care for two special needs kids. My responsibilities were general day-to-day caring, giving responsibilities, preparing meals, bathing, and dressing. I assisted with social development by interacting with them and supporting social activities with other children. I also ensured that therapeutic regimes were reinforced. Potty training can be a challenge. I developed a strategy by keeping a close eye on the and monitoring the child for signs that he or she is approaching the potty training age and the child is physically and mentally ready to be potty trained. I time this moment perfectly and I can potty train in 2 weeks. Pets are welcome. I am allergic to cats but happy to work with dogs. I am passionate about developing strong relationships with both children and parents. I look for opportunities to make a lasting impact on children entrusted to my care.
