About me
Hello, my name is Lais, I grew up in the state of Minas Gerais-Brazil. I am an only child, but I come from a large and lively family, where I have several uncles and cousins. My childhood was very happy, I have wonderful memories of vacations at my grandparents' farm with my cousins. I love music, dancing, cinema, parks and traveling. I'm dynamic and I love learning new things.
I graduated in Mining Engineering at a public university, where I participated in several projects, including Protecnico. I was selected from a few candidates to teach geography to 13/14 year olds who came from public schools. This project aimed to expand students' learning for entrance exams in disputed high schools. It was from there that I discovered my passion for working with children. At the end of my graduation, I did an exchange program in Toronto, Canada, where I made several friends, studied and started to work as a nanny. I learned a lot during this period and had the opportunity to live with wonderful families. I worked as a full-time nanny with a 2-month-old baby and then a 1-and-a-half-year-old baby. I also occasionally babysat for some families on weekends and ages ranged from 3 months to 14 years. Some of my duties as a nanny included preparing the children's meals, helping with introducing solid foods into the diet, changing diapers, picking up the children from school, putting them to bed, potty training, doing laundry, running activities in the parks and at home, such as how to play with puzzles, encourage reading and crafts.
During this period, living in Canada, I met my husband, and sometime later the pandemic began, as all schools were closed and also some companies, we moved to Turkey, where he received a job offer as a cybersecurity engineer. We lived in Ankara for 2 years, during that time I worked in 2 kindergartens, where I learned to work with Montessori and also to develop different age-specific activities, so I could improve my skills, and now I use them in my daily life today as a nanny. During that time in Turkey, we went through a process where we were approved for the Green Card, so we came to start a new life. Since arriving I have worked with a few families occasionally on weekends and part-time with a special family looking for a smart 2-and-a-half-year-old boy. My goal is a full-time position where I can apply my knowledge and help children develop in a happy, loving and calm environment. I am flexible with schedules and any constructive criticism is welcome for my constant improvement. I have read that the first five years of a child's life project what they will be essential for their whole life. I believe that if we really hone in on that and are careful and loving in raising our children, they can grow up to be exceptional beings in the world. I would like to help them become those people!

in a job that I enjoy doing, find a good work-life balance, foster good relationships both at work and in my personal life, and simply enjoy each day that comes and goes. I also intend to study something that I like.
Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...
I love developing activities that help children's motor skills. This is possible with simple things that we can create at home, such as taking several different coloured pompoms and using a spoon to place the corresponding colours in each container. The activities are simple but help to improve the child's attention, coordination and reliability. I like to use music daily; the atmosphere is happy and the children love to learn choreographies. I also believe outdoor activities are important because children can expend energy and socialize with other children.
