About me
I grew up in The Bronx and I have four brothers and one sister. As a child I filled notebooks with drawings of fantastic clothing and costumes that I would have loved to own. It only seemed natural to study fashion design in high school where I was also involved in set, stage and costume design for our school's plays and talent shows. Eventually I went on to study fashion design at the Wood Tobe-Coburn School. In 2012, my love of fashion and art lead me to open a vintage clothing boutique.
My journey as an early childhood educator began in 2004 when i began working at an infant/toddler center. Since then I have gone on to work in various roles as a caregiver and teacher in both classroom and home settings. As a "floater" I served as support in classrooms with children that ranged from 3 month olds to 5 years of age. I have been both an assistant teacher and a leader. Thanks to this my experience and responsibilities have been vast. From preparing bottles and changing diapers, to potting training to teaching pre-writing skills.
As a visual artist, instilling an appreciation for the arts in children is one of my favorite things and I often find it being a part of our day to day routines. One thing that is very important to me as a caregiver and educator is to treat children as individuals and make sure that they feel seen and heard. I like to be able to teach children to be independent and self-reliant while making sure they feel safe and supported.
