About me

I'm a Native New Yorker, born and raised in the Bronx. I have a younger brother and an older brother. I was raised with my younger brother and we're ten months apart. As a child I enjoyed baking, dancing, journaling, writing poems, and playing with my friends outdoors. I received my B.S. in Sociology from SUNY Oneonta which is located in upstate New York. I have prior experience within the Social Work field as well as Education. As an educator, I've realized that I truly enjoy working with children. However, I felt I could make more of an impact as a child care provider than in a classroom setting.

I've worked with infants, toddlers, young children, and adolescents for the past eight years as a social worker, educator, and child-care professional. One toddler I worked was 2 turning 3. I was her In-Home Educator for 9 months. In that time I changed her diapers, assisted with potty training, took her in the stroller to the park, prepared lunch, snack, and dinner, and incorporated planned age-appropriate educational activities. Additionally, I've provided support in a daycare/classroom setting for infants, toddlers, and pre-school aged children. I've been responsible for caring and engaging with up to five children at a time. My relevant child-care certifications include: Prevention and Identification of Brain Injuries (AHT), Principles of Infection Control for Childcare Professionals, Mandated Reporter: Identifying and Reporting Child Abuse and Maltreatment, Keeping Children Safe: Prevention of Lead Poisoning & Other Dangers to Children, Preventing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome & Promoting Safe Sleeping, and Adult, Child and Baby First Aid/CPR/AED Online.

As someone who prioritizes self-care, I have worked with many children to develop skills related to effectively communicating, practicing patience, and positive self talk. I believe everyone has at least one person that plants a seed in them. Those seeds maybe words of encouragement, empowerment, or motivation that pushes a child to follow their dreams. I've realized that the main purpose in my work derives from knowing that I can possibly plant a seed in a child to become whomever they want to be.

Activities & skills I love to teach & share with children...

Practicing mindfulness and self-regulation to work through emotions. I like to practice yoga with children because it teaches them that they have all that they need to feel safe and grounded within themselves. Additionally, baking with children is something I love to do when possible because it encourages creativity, instruction, receptive language skills, and fine motor skills.
